3DXTech CarbonX — Carbon-Fiber Reinforced Filament
CarbonX is 3DXTech’s chopped carbon-fiber reinforced line — the same base polymers, stiffened with carbon fiber for dramatically higher rigidity, better dimensional stability and a clean matte-black finish. The range ladders from an affordable PLA+CF for stiff prototypes, through ABS/PETG/ASA and PC for functional parts, to CF-reinforced Nylon, PEI/ULTEM, PEKK and PEEK for aerospace and metal-replacement. All 1.75 mm, made in the USA. This page compares the grades so you can match the base polymer — and the stiffness — to your part.
- Up to 8,600 MPa stiff
- Light & dimensionally stable
- Matte-black finish

Choosing a 3DXTech carbonx machine
The decisions that actually matter for this class of machine — size them to your parts, not to a spec sheet.
Stiffness is the point
Carbon fiber roughly doubles the modulus of the base polymer: CarbonX runs from ~4,950 MPa (PLA+CF) to ~8,600 MPa (PEI 9085+CF). Choose by how rigid and dimensionally stable the part must be — not just by the base plastic.
Match the base polymer
Pick the base for the environment: PLA+CF for stiff prototypes, ABS/ASA+CF for functional and UV-stable outdoor parts, PC/ezPC+CF for toughness and heat, Nylon/HTN+CF for wear and fatigue, and PEI/PEKK/PEEK+CF for the highest temperatures.
Hardware
Every carbon-filled grade abrades brass — a hardened/wear-resistant nozzle is required. The high-temp grades (Nylon, HTN, PEI, PEKK, PEEK +CF) also need a high-temp printer with a heated chamber; ezPC+CF is tuned to run without one.
Finish & warp
CF grades print with a premium matte-black finish and warp less than their unfilled versions thanks to lower shrinkage — a practical reason to choose CF even when you don’t need the extra stiffness.

Frequently asked questions
Which CarbonX grade should I choose?
Match the base polymer to the environment, then the stiffness to the load: PLA+CF for stiff prototypes; ABS/PETG/ASA+CF for functional and outdoor parts; PC/ezPC+CF for tough, heat-resistant parts; Nylon/HTN+CF for wear and fatigue; and PEI/PEKK/PEEK+CF for aerospace and the highest temperatures. Tell us the part and we’ll recommend the grade.
Do I need a special nozzle for carbon fiber?
Yes — chopped carbon fiber abrades a standard brass nozzle quickly, so a hardened or wear-resistant nozzle (steel, ruby or tungsten-carbide) is required for every CarbonX grade. We can recommend one for your printer.
Why choose carbon fiber over the standard filament?
Carbon fiber roughly doubles stiffness, improves dimensional stability and reduces warp, and gives a premium matte-black finish — so even where you don’t need maximum strength, CF parts hold tolerance better and look better.
Can my printer run the high-temp CF grades?
The standard grades (PLA/ABS/PETG/ASA/PC +CF) run on most engineering printers; ezPC+CF even prints without a heated chamber. The Nylon, HTN, PEI, PEKK and PEEK +CF grades need a high-temp printer with a heated chamber — we confirm compatibility before you buy.
Are these made in the US and in stock?
Yes — 3DXTech CarbonX filaments are made in the USA and ship from US stock. Rev1 is an authorized 3DXTech reseller with US-based application and printer support. Call (248) 707-2950.
