Breakaway Support Filament
Support material engineered to snap off by hand. Breakaway support prints alongside your model on a second extruder, then peels and breaks away cleanly at the interface — the fast, water-free way to support overhangs and internal geometry.

What is breakaway support filament?
Breakaway support is a purpose-made support material for dual-extrusion printers. It's formulated to bond just enough to hold your part during printing, then fracture cleanly at the model interface so supports peel and snap off by hand — no solvent, no soaking, no drying time.
It's the practical choice when your part material isn't soluble-support compatible, or when you simply want immediate post-processing. Because removal is mechanical, it works with a wide range of model materials where a dissolving bath isn't an option.
Breakaway vs soluble support — how to choose
Both keep overhangs and bridges clean; they differ in how you remove them:
Use breakaway for speed and accessible supports; use soluble for geometry your hands can't reach.
Using breakaway support successfully
- Dual-extrusion required — breakaway prints from a second nozzle alongside your model material.
- Tune the interface layer — the gap and interface density control how easily supports release.
- Match temperatures to your model material and manufacturer's profile for a clean bond.
- Peel at edges first, then work supports free — use flush cutters for tight spots.
- Keep it dry — store sealed to avoid moisture affecting adhesion and removal.
