Carbon Fiber Filament
Chopped carbon fiber blended into an engineering base resin for outstanding stiffness, low weight, and dimensional stability. CF-reinforced filaments print flatter, resist bending, and give parts a premium matte-black finish — the choice for jigs, fixtures, drone frames, and structural brackets.

What is carbon fiber filament?
Carbon fiber filament is an engineering base polymer — most often nylon (PA-CF), PETG-CF, PC-CF, or ABS-CF — reinforced with short, chopped carbon fibers. The fibers dramatically increase stiffness (flexural modulus) and dimensional stability while lowering weight and warp.
The result is a rigid, matte-black part that holds its shape under load. The trade-off: chopped carbon is abrasive and wears out brass nozzles quickly, so a hardened steel or ruby nozzle is mandatory. Note that CF adds stiffness, not impact toughness — it can make a part more brittle than the unfilled base resin.
Carbon fiber vs glass fiber vs unfilled — how to choose
Reinforcement changes what the part can do:
Reach for CF when you need a stiff, light, stable part; choose the base resin's toughness when impact is the priority.
Printing carbon fiber successfully
- Use a hardened nozzle. Chopped carbon is abrasive — hardened steel or ruby is required or brass wears out fast.
- Dry the filament. Most CF bases (especially nylon) are hygroscopic — dry before and during printing.
- Follow the base resin's profile — temps and enclosure needs come from the PA/PC/PETG/ABS base.
- Slightly larger nozzle (0.4–0.6 mm) reduces clogging from fiber clumps.
- Expect a matte finish — fibers hide layer lines and give a premium look.
