PC (Polycarbonate) Filament
One of the strongest, most heat-resistant filaments you can print. Polycarbonate delivers outstanding impact toughness and heat resistance beyond 110 °C, with optical clarity in some grades — the material for structural brackets, housings, and parts that must not fail.

What is polycarbonate (PC) filament?
Polycarbonate (PC) is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic known for exceptional impact strength and heat resistance — the same material used in bulletproof glazing and safety helmets. Printed parts stay strong and dimensionally stable at temperatures where PLA, PETG, and even ABS soften, with a glass transition around 145 °C and usable heat resistance well past 110 °C.
PC demands a capable printer: high nozzle temperatures (260–300 °C), a hot bed, and an enclosure to manage significant warping. It's also hygroscopic, so it must be dried. In return you get one of the toughest, most durable plastics available in 1.75 mm.
PC vs ABS vs nylon — how to choose
Choose by the combination of heat, strength, and stiffness you need:
Need heat resistance and toughness together but easier printing? Consider PC-ABS — stocked at Rev1.
Printing polycarbonate successfully
- Dry the filament. PC is hygroscopic — wet PC bubbles, strings, and loses strength.
- Nozzle 260–300 °C, bed 100–120 °C — an all-metal hotend is required.
- Use an enclosure. A warm chamber is essential to control PC's strong warping.
- Strong bed adhesion — PC pulls hard; use glue or a PC-friendly surface.
- Slow, hot, minimal cooling for the best layer bonding and impact strength.
