ASA Filament
The outdoor-grade engineering plastic. ASA delivers ABS-like toughness and heat resistance but adds genuine UV and weather stability, so parts hold their color and strength in sunlight, rain, and heat instead of yellowing and going brittle.

What is ASA filament?
ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate) is an engineering thermoplastic developed as a weather-resistant successor to ABS. It shares ABS's rigidity, impact strength, and heat resistance (softening near 95–100 °C), but the acrylate chemistry gives it real UV stability — the reason it's used for automotive exterior trim, signage, and outdoor housings.
Where ABS yellows, chalks, and grows brittle after months in the sun, ASA keeps its color and mechanical properties outdoors for years. Like ABS it prints best in an enclosed, draft-free chamber and emits a styrene odor, so print in a ventilated space.
ASA vs ABS vs PETG — how to choose
Match the material to where the part will live:
For higher sustained heat than ASA, step up to PC or PA (nylon) — both stocked at Rev1.
Printing ASA successfully
- Use an enclosure. A warm, draft-free chamber prevents the warping and cracking ASA is prone to.
- Nozzle 240–260 °C, bed 90–110 °C with glue stick for first-layer adhesion.
- Minimal part cooling — too much fan causes layer splitting.
- Ventilate — ASA gives off styrene fumes; use filtration or an open, ventilated space.
- Keep filament dry — store sealed with desiccant to avoid moisture-driven surface defects.
