SHINING 3D FreeScan Software — Capture, Inspect & Reverse Engineer

The software that turns a FreeScan into a complete metrology workflow. FreeScan is the capture platform — align, mesh and export, included with every FreeScan scanner. SHINING3D Inspect adds PTB-certified dimensional inspection with GD&T reports straight from the scan. EXModel handles scan-to-CAD reverse engineering, rebuilding parametric solids from point clouds. This page compares the three so you can match the software to your workflow.

How to choose

Choosing a SHINING 3D freescan software machine

The decisions that actually matter for this class of machine — size them to your parts, not to a spec sheet.

Capture

FreeScan is the scan platform — it captures, aligns and meshes the data and exports clean geometry (STL, OBJ and more). It ships with every FreeScan scanner, so it is the starting point for any workflow.

Inspect

SHINING3D Inspect is PTB-certified dimensional inspection — build a GD&T report straight from the scan, compare to CAD, and report first-article or in-process results.

Reverse engineer

EXModel turns a scan into parametric CAD — rebuild a solid model from the point cloud, recover legacy geometry, or modify an existing component from one scan session.

One workflow

Used together, the three cover the full path from part to report to CAD. We help you set up licensing, templates and training for your team.

Frequently asked questions

Which SHINING 3D software do I need?

FreeScan comes with every scanner for capture and meshing. Add SHINING3D Inspect when you need PTB-certified GD&T inspection reports, and EXModel when you need to rebuild parametric CAD from a scan. Many shops run all three.

Is the capture software included?

Yes — FreeScan, the capture and meshing platform, is included with every FreeScan scanner. SHINING3D Inspect and EXModel are licensed separately.

Can I produce an inspection report without a CMM?

Yes — SHINING3D Inspect is PTB-certified and builds GD&T reports directly from scan data, so you can report first-article and in-process results from a FreeScan at 0.02 mm accuracy.

Do you help with setup and training?

Yes — Rev1 is an authorized SHINING 3D reseller in the USA, with US-based setup, licensing, templates and training support. Call (248) 707-2950 or request a quote.
