SHINING 3D Fixed & Automated Metrology — OptimScan, AutoScan & RobotScan

When the work calls for a fixed or automated station rather than a handheld, SHINING 3D’s fixed line delivers the highest accuracy in the catalog. The OptimScan Q12 and Q12/Q9 HD are blue-light structured-light scanners — dual-range, down to 0.004 mm, for fixed, tripod or robot-mounted use. The AutoScan Inspec2 is a PTB-certified desktop scanner holding 0.01 mm in an automated format. The RobotScan cell puts a metrology scanner on a cobot arm and servo turntable for hands-off, repeatable full-field measurement. This page compares them.

How to choose

Choosing a SHINING 3D fixed & automated machine

The decisions that actually matter for this class of machine — size them to your parts, not to a spec sheet.

Highest accuracy

The OptimScan HD reaches 0.004 mm (small range) / 0.01 mm (large) and the standard Q12 0.005 / 0.015 mm — the tightest in the SHINING 3D line, for fine features and reference-grade inspection.

Dual-range flexibility

The OptimScan systems switch between a small and large field of view (e.g. 160 × 110 mm vs 430 × 300 mm on the Q12) so one scanner covers both fine detail and bigger parts.

Automated & certified

The AutoScan Inspec2 is dual-PTB-certified (Gaussian and Chebyshev) at 0.01 mm in a desktop format; the RobotScan cell automates calibration and path planning for repeatable, MES-ready measurement.

Fixed, tripod or robot

The OptimScan mounts on a tripod, a fixed stand or a robot; the RobotScan is a turnkey automated cell. Tell us throughput and part mix and we’ll configure the right station.

Frequently asked questions

Which fixed or automated system should I choose?

For the highest accuracy and dual-range fixed scanning, the OptimScan Q12 or Q12/Q9 HD; for a certified desktop inspection scanner, the AutoScan Inspec2; for hands-off repeatable measurement, the RobotScan automated cell. Tell us your part mix, tolerance and throughput and we will configure it.

How accurate are these?

The OptimScan HD reaches 0.004 mm (small range), the standard Q12 0.005 mm, and the AutoScan Inspec2 holds 0.01 mm — the tightest accuracy in the SHINING 3D line, suitable for reference and first-article inspection.

Can the AutoScan Inspec2 replace a CMM?

For many desktop first-article and in-process checks, yes — it is dual-PTB-certified (Gaussian and Chebyshev) at 0.01 mm. We help you confirm it covers your GD&T callouts before you buy.
