AESUBdots Applicator Gun 3mm
Mechanical Dot Dispenser for 3mm AESUBdots
The AESUBdots Applicator Gun (3 mm) is a mechanical tool for placing 3 mm AESUBdots reference points on a workpiece. Loads a roll of dots, dispenses one dot per trigger pull, with consistent placement pressure. Replaces minutes of manual dot peeling-and-sticking with seconds of trigger work. Compatible with all AESUBdots 3mm varieties (retroreflective, black-and-white). Full specifications →

Why the Applicator Gun
Replaces Manual Placement
Each dice carries up to 11 retro-reflective 6 mm markers across its dodecahedron faces — one well-placed dice gives the scanner multiple reference angles from a single attachment point, replacing what would otherwise be a cluster of individual dots.
Choose the magnetic version to snap to metal parts in seconds, or the M4-thread version for putty mounting on non-metal surfaces (composite, polymer, glass). Both variants are reusable and survive thousands of scan cycles.
The chamfered base lifts the dice slightly off the surface, minimizing the area the dice covers and the data loss it creates. Especially useful for tight corners and low-angle scan zones where every millimeter of captured geometry counts.
Load Roll, Pull Trigger —
That's the Workflow

Magnetic dice attach instantly to ferrous metal parts — perfect for fast scanner setup on automotive panels, machined components, and tooling. M4-thread dice mount to threaded inserts or AESUB scan putty for non-metal surfaces (composites, polymers, glass). Many production shops keep both variants on hand and pick per part.

Frequently Asked —
AESUBdots Applicator Gun — 3mm Dots
When should I use Dice instead of stick-on Dots?
Use Dice when the part surface is too small, delicate, or geometrically complex to apply individual stick-on dots cleanly. Dice also work well for tabletop scans where you can position a few around the part instead of dotting the part itself, and for low-angle or corner scans where the chamfered bottom minimizes coverage.
Magnetic vs M4 thread — which do I need?
Magnetic dice attach instantly to ferrous metal parts (steel, iron) — ideal for fast scan setup. M4 thread dice mount on threaded inserts or via AESUB scan putty for non-metal surfaces (composite, plastic, glass). Many shops keep both variants on hand.
How many dice do I need per scan?
Depends on part size and scanner. For a tabletop part, 4–6 dice positioned around the part typically gives enough reference coverage. For larger parts, scale up. Each dice contributes up to 11 markers, so a few dice can replace dozens of individual dots.
Are the dice reusable?
Yes. The dice are designed for repeated use across thousands of scan cycles. Wipe clean between scans if needed; store in the original case to keep the markers free of dust and oils.
What scanners are AESUBdots Applicator Gun — 3mm Dots compatible with?
AESUBdots Applicator Gun — 3mm Dots work with laser scanners (FARO, Leica, Creaform), structured-light scanners (Shining3D, Artec, EinScan), and photogrammetry workflows. The 6 mm retro-reflective markers are the industry-standard size; 3 mm marker variants are also available.
Can I buy single dice or only the 12-pack?
Standard packaging is the 12-dice case at $149. Larger quantities and bulk pricing are available — contact Rev1 at (248) 707-2950 or (248) 707-2950 for volume orders.
