The Compact Combo Design and Hybrid Light Source — Now With No Cable.

Built for Inspection, QC and Reverse Engineering

FreeScan Combo+ Wireless keeps the compact body and hybrid light source of the FreeScan Combo Series and drops the cable completely. It is built for inspection, quality control and reverse engineering in automotive, heavy industry, transportation and energy. Scanning a large casting pattern in a foundry pattern shop, no cable runs back to a PC — so the operator walks the part freely.

Certified Metrology Accuracy

Certified Accuracy: ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory.

Accuracy claims on this page are not marketing numbers. The SHINING 3D Accuracy Lab is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by CNAS, and its calibration procedures strictly follow ISO 10360. Every FreeScan Combo+ Wireless is acceptance tested there to ISO 10360 — that is the document your quality manager, and your customer’s auditor, will ask to see.

Secured Accuracy at Scale

SHINING 3D’s patented video photogrammetry (VPG) keeps refining the position of reference markers as you scan. It cuts cumulative error over long distances, so accuracy holds across large components. Buyer FAQ

FreeScan Combo+ Wireless — questions buyers ask before ordering.

What does going wireless actually gain me?
Freedom of movement. With no cable running back to a PC, the operator walks the part — around a large casting, under a steel frame, inside a vehicle cabin — without a tether to snag or reposition. Wi-Fi 7 with anti-interference technology carries the data on busy factory floors and outdoors, and a swappable high-capacity battery runs up to 2 hours per charge, so a spare on the dock keeps you scanning across a full shift.
What accuracy can the Combo+ Wireless hold, and is it certified?
Up to 0.02 mm single-point accuracy, 0.02 + 0.03 mm/m volumetric, and 0.02 + 0.015 mm/m volumetric with VPG. Every unit is acceptance-tested to ISO 10360 in SHINING 3D’s ISO/IEC 17025 accredited Accuracy Lab — the same standard the metrology industry uses to qualify CMMs and laser trackers, not a marketing peak. Rev1 provides certification documentation for audit, regulated, and first-article workflows on request. (ISO/IEC 17025 accredits the testing lab, not the device itself.)
What is VPG, and why does it matter on large parts?
VPG is SHINING 3D’s patented built-in video photogrammetry. As you scan, it keeps refining the position of reference markers, cutting the cumulative error that otherwise builds up over long distances. The result is volumetric accuracy of 0.02 mm + 0.015 mm/m — so accuracy holds across large components like vehicle bodies, castings and structural frames, not just small benchtop parts.
What are the five scan modes for?
93-line high-speed laser for global area capture at up to 9,106,000 points/s; 25 parallel lines for fine detail; a single line for deep pockets, bores and ribs a structured-light scanner can’t reach; marker-free IR rapid scan for quick jobs without targets; and VPG scan mode for large components. Mode is selectable per scan in FreeScan, so one operator covers inspection, reverse engineering and large-asset capture without switching tools.
What software does it use, and what does it integrate with?
Capture and process in FreeScan, then move one click into PTB-certified SHINING3D Inspect for dimensional analysis, GD&T, color maps and reports. The certified mesh also exports into EXModel for scan-to-CAD and out to Geomagic Design X, Geomagic Control X, PolyWorks Inspector, SolidWorks and CATIA — no proprietary lock-in.
Does it need markers or scanning spray?
For most surfaces, no. The marker-free IR rapid mode captures soft and large parts without targets or spray, and the laser modes handle machined geometry directly. Very dark or mirror-finish workpieces still benefit from AESUB spray for the cleanest data, and reference targets plus VPG help hold accuracy on large assemblies — Rev1 stocks the spray and targets for the workflows that need them.
How does it differ from the wired FreeScan Combo Series?
The Combo+ Wireless keeps the compact body and hybrid light source of the Combo Series and drops the cable. It adds Wi-Fi 7 wireless transmission, a swappable battery, built-in VPG, and more laser lines — 93 high-speed lines at up to 9,106,000 points/s versus the wired Combo+. If a tethered USB 3.0 workflow is fine for your bench, the wired FreeScan Combo Series may be the better value — Rev1 will scope the right fit.
Is Rev1 an authorized SHINING 3D dealer, and what support is included?
Yes — Rev1 Technologies is an authorized SHINING 3D FreeScan reseller and factory-trained support partner based in Auburn Hills, Michigan — your SHINING 3D metrology partner in the USA. Purchases include application review, software setup, calibration verification, operator training, and US-based phone and video support with authorized service routing — warranty service never routes through grey-market channels.
What is the lead time, and how is the FreeScan Combo+ Wireless delivered?
Rev1 confirms current lead time and availability on the quote. As an authorized SHINING 3D reseller stocking in the USA, we ship from US inventory when available and coordinate delivery — so you avoid overseas lead times and customs surprises. Ask us for the current delivery window.
Is financing available for the FreeScan Combo+ Wireless?
Yes — business financing is available for qualified buyers on this and other metrology equipment. Ask Rev1 about current terms and monthly-payment estimates; we can structure the purchase to keep your capital working. Call (248) 707-2950.
What are the warranty, returns, and trade-in options?
The scanner carries the full SHINING 3D manufacturer warranty, with service handled by Rev1 as an authorized provider — warranty service never routes through grey-market channels. Ask about upgrade and trade-in paths from an older FreeScan or a competitor scanner; return terms are confirmed on the quote.
Does the FreeScan Combo+ Wireless come with a calibration certificate?
Yes. Accuracy is verified in SHINING 3D’s ISO/IEC 17025-accredited metrology lab, and each unit ships with its calibration and accuracy documentation. Rev1 performs calibration verification during setup and can advise on periodic re-verification to keep your quality system audit-ready.
