Signs the X motor needs replacing
Shifted layers in the X direction, especially during fast infill or travel moves.
A buzzing, clicking or grinding sound when the print head moves left or right.
The X axis will not home, or the printer stops moving in X during a job.
The motor gets hotter than usual under normal printing.

Installation tips
Switch off and unplug the printer. Photograph the connector and cable routing, then release tension on the X belt before removing the motor. Transfer the pulley if needed and position it so the belt runs straight and centered. Refit the belt at the correct tension, home the printer and run a test print with long X moves to confirm there is no skipping.
