Common signs are a bed that takes noticeably longer to heat, a bed temperature that will not hold steady, heating faults, or warping and lifting in one area that was fine before. Physical damage such as bubbling, peeling or scorching on the heater means it should be replaced. The standard D600 Pro2 uses a different heater, part 172006, and the D600 Pro uses part 172005. The D1000 HS uses a set of four, part 172009.
Installation tips
Unplug the printer and allow the bed to cool. Take the bed assembly out, photograph the heater connections and the position of the bed temperature sensor, then remove the old heater. Clean the mounting surface completely, apply the new heater flat with no trapped air, and reconnect it exactly as before. Refit the sensor and any insulation, run a bed heat test, and re-level before printing. If you would rather not work on bed wiring, Rev1 can do the replacement.
