The CreatBot D600 Pro2 HS filament heating PTC (part 173017) is the heater for the filament compartment on the CreatBot D600 Pro2 HS. The HS is built to print engineering materials at speed, and fast printing leaves little margin for filament that has picked up moisture. Wet nylon, PC or fiber filled filament boils in the hotend, which causes surface pitting, stringing, inconsistent extrusion and weaker parts. Compatible CreatBot 3D printer
The non-HS D600 Pro2 uses part 173016, and the D600 Pro uses 173015. The D1000 HS has its own filament heater, part 173019.
About PTC heaters
A PTC (positive temperature coefficient) heater uses a ceramic element whose resistance increases as it warms. As it gets hot it draws less power, so it moderates its own output. That is why PTC elements are commonly used to warm small enclosed spaces like a filament compartment.
Installation tips
Turn the printer off, unplug it and remove the spools from the compartment. Allow the heater to cool, take a photo of the connector and wire path, and fit the new heater in the same location. Route the leads clear of the spools and the filament feed, then close the compartment and run filament heating once to confirm it warms.
