Signs the extruder unit needs replacing
The extruder clicks, skips or grinds, often at the fastest parts of a print.
Walls and infill come out thin or gappy, even after the nozzle has been cleaned.
Filament shows heavy bite marks or has been ground down at the drive gear.
The unit has been damaged by a crash, jam or impact.

The standard D600 Pro2 uses part 183006 and the D600 Pro uses part 183005. The D1000 HS has its own unit, part 183009.
Getting the best from a new extruder
High speed printing depends on the whole extrusion path. Use a clean nozzle in good condition, keep filament dry, and make sure your print temperature suits the speed you are running. A fresh extruder unit performs best when the rest of the path is in good shape too.
Installation tips
Heat the hotend and unload the filament, then switch off, unplug and let the head cool. Photograph the wiring and cable routing, remove the old unit, and fit the new one using the same hardware and connections. Load filament, run a manual extrusion test, check the nozzle height and print a calibration part at your normal speed settings.
