Signs the closed loop belt needs replacing
Y-axis layer shifts that continue after the Y-axis belt has been tensioned or replaced.
A ticking, chirping or slipping sound from the Y drive under fast moves.
Cracks on the back of the loop, frayed edges or teeth worn flat.
The loop has stretched so far that the tension adjustment has run out.
Compatible CreatBot 3D printer
The D600 Pro also uses an X-axis belt (143001) and a Y-axis belt (143002). Newer models have their own closed loop belts: D600 Pro2 (143006) and D600 Pro2 HS (143009).
What to expect when replacing it
An endless belt cannot be threaded and clamped. It has to be slipped over its pulleys, so you will usually need to loosen the motor mount or tensioner to create slack, and you may need to remove a cover or pulley to get the loop on. It is a longer job than an open belt, so allow extra time and take photos as you go.
Installation tips
Power the printer off and unplug it. Mark the position of the motor or tensioner before you loosen it. Slip the old loop off, fit the new one with the teeth fully seated on both pulleys, and return the motor or tensioner to its mark. Turn the drive by hand to check for smooth running, then home the printer and run a test print with long Y moves.
