Signs the Y motor needs replacing
Prints show a sudden step or offset front to back, while the X direction stays clean.
The Y axis hesitates, vibrates or makes a grinding noise during fast moves.
Homing on Y fails or the axis stops without an obvious mechanical obstruction.
The motor shaft feels rough or notchy when turned by hand with the power off.
Before replacing the motor, check the Y belt tension, the pulley set screws and the motor cable. If those are fine and the fault stays on the Y axis, the motor is the likely cause. Rev1 support can help you work through it.

The D1000 X axis uses part 132010. If you own a D1000 HS, order Y motor 132004 instead.
Installation tips
Switch the printer off and disconnect power. Label or photograph the motor connector, then take the tension off the Y belt before you unbolt the motor. Fit the new motor in the same orientation, line the pulley up with the belt path and tighten the set screws on the flat of the shaft if there is one. Restore belt tension, home all axes and print a square test part to check that the Y dimension is correct.

Not unless it shows its own symptoms. The X and Y motors are separate parts and can be replaced individually.
