Signs the Z-axis motor belt needs replacing
Inconsistent layer lines or visible banding on vertical walls.
The Z motor runs but Z movement is jerky, delayed or missing.
Homing in Z is unreliable or ends at a different height each time.
The belt shows cracks, glazing or missing teeth, or has lost tension.
Compatible CreatBot 3D printer
The D1000 HS Z drive also uses a Z-axis timing belt, part 143024. The standard D1000 has its own Z-axis motor belt, part 143018. X and Y belts for the D1000 HS are 143020, 143021 and 143022.
Diagnosing a Z drive problem
Watch the Z drive while the printer moves the axis. If the motor pulley turns and the belt skips over it, the motor belt is the problem. If everything turns but one side of the bed or gantry ends up out of level, look at the Z-axis timing belt (143024) instead. A loose motor pulley can also cause slipping, so check its set screw first.
Installation tips
Power the printer off and unplug it. Support the Z assembly before you remove tension, so nothing can drop when the drive is disconnected. Release the motor mount, fit the new belt with the teeth fully engaged, re-tension it and turn the drive by hand. Home the printer, re-level the bed and print a short test part to confirm layer height.
