D1000 HS E Drive (Extruder Stepper Driver)

The CreatBot D1000 HS E drive (part 115006) is the OEM extruder motor driver for the CreatBot D1000 HS large format 3D printer. In CreatBot naming, "E" is the extruder axis. The driver takes step commands from the main control board and turns them into the current that moves the extruder motor, which pushes filament into the hotend. If the E drive is weak or failing, the printer can still move perfectly in X, Y and Z while laying down too little plastic, or none at all. Full specifications →

Signs the E drive may need replacing
The extruder motor does not turn, stutters or only buzzes, while the other axes move normally.
Under-extrusion or gaps that persist after the nozzle, hotend and filament path have been checked.
The extruder works when the motor is plugged into a known good driver channel, but not on its own.
An extruder or driver error on the printer that clears and returns.
A partial clog, a worn drive gear or a damaged motor cable can look the same. Rev1 support can help you isolate the cause.
Compatible CreatBot 3D printer
CreatBot also lists the D600 Pro2 HS E drive (part 115002) for the D1000 HS. If you are not sure which E drive your printer has, send Rev1 a photo of the fitted module before ordering. The D1000 HS X, Y and Z drives are parts 115003, 115004 and 115005.
Installation tips

Power the printer off and unplug it before opening the electronics bay, and give any capacitors a moment to discharge. Note the orientation of the existing driver before you remove it, because a driver fitted the wrong way round can be damaged on power-up. Seat the new module fully, reconnect the motor cable, then test extrusion with a short manual feed before you start a print.
