The smooth PEI surface is the all-rounder of Bambu’s plates: it leaves a low-sheen, smooth-matte finish on the first layer that hides layer lines and reads as a clean, finished surface. For display models, enclosures, and consumer parts where the bottom face is visible, it produces a more polished result than a textured plate — without any post-processing.

The Smooth PEI Plate handles a broad material range: PLA and TPU stick and release beautifully with no prep, and it also runs PETG and higher-temperature engineering filaments like ABS and nylon. One important rule from Bambu: for anything other than PLA — and especially PETG, which can bond aggressively to bare PEI — apply a glue stick as a release layer. That protects the PEI coating and keeps the plate lasting.

The same applies to ABS and nylon — a glue release layer protects the plate and extends its life.
