PLA Filament
The easiest filament to print, period. PLA offers crisp detail, minimal warping, low odor, and an enormous color range with no enclosure needed — the default choice for models, prototypes, and anyone learning 3D printing.

What is PLA filament?
PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a plant-derived thermoplastic and the most popular 3D printing material for one reason: it's the easiest to print. It flows at low temperatures, barely warps, adheres well to most beds, prints without an enclosure, and produces sharp detail in the widest color and finish range of any filament (matte, silk, glow, wood-fill, and more).
The trade-off is heat and durability: PLA softens near 55–60 °C and is more brittle than engineering plastics, so it's not for parts exposed to sun, cars, or sustained stress. For display models, visual prototypes, and low-stress parts, nothing is faster or more forgiving.
PLA vs PETG vs ABS — how to choose
Choose PLA when ease and detail matter more than durability:
The moment a part sees heat or real stress, move up to PETG, ABS, or ASA — all stocked at Rev1.
Printing PLA successfully
- Nozzle 190–220 °C, bed 50–60 °C (or cold) — no enclosure needed.
- Use plenty of part cooling — full fan gives PLA its crisp overhangs and detail.
- Keep the chamber cool — too much ambient heat softens PLA and can clog the hotend.
- Dry silk/specialty PLA if you see stringing.
- Avoid heat exposure — never leave PLA parts in a hot car or direct sun.
