EinScan Trak & Medixa — Specialty 3D Scanners

Two purpose-built EinScan scanners for jobs the general handhelds don’t cover. The EinScan Trak is an optical-tracking metrology scanner — a detachable laser head tracked in space for large-volume, marker-tracked capture up to 4 m, with deep-hole scanning for hard-to-reach features. The EinScan Medixa is a clinical scanner built for anatomical capture — hybrid white-light and infrared, full-body region capture in under two minutes and nine clinical presets for prosthetics, orthotics and bracing. This page compares the two so you can pick the one built for your application.

How to choose

Choosing a EinScan specialty machine

The decisions that actually matter for this class of machine — size them to your parts, not to a spec sheet.

Metrology vs clinical

The Trak is a tracking-based metrology scanner for large parts, inspection and reverse engineering. The Medixa is a clinical scanner for human anatomy — sockets, orthoses, cranial and torso work.

Working range

The Trak tracks over large volumes up to 4 m in Tracking Mode. The Medixa captures a 475 × 360 mm white-light field and up to a 1090 × 1260 mm infrared field for full body regions in under two minutes.

Markers & tracking

The Trak uses retroreflective markers built into the scanner module for precise optical tracking and deep-hole scanning to a 1:4 diameter-to-depth ratio. The Medixa scans markerlessly with feature, texture and hybrid alignment for patient comfort.

Detail

The Trak resolves up to 0.05 mm with ultra-fine local resolution. The Medixa targets RMS accuracy under 0.3 mm — tuned for fast, comfortable anatomical capture rather than tight part metrology.

Frequently asked questions

EinScan Trak or Medixa — what’s the difference?

They’re built for different jobs. The Trak is an optical-tracking metrology scanner for large parts, inspection and reverse engineering. The Medixa is a clinical scanner for human anatomy — prosthetic and orthotic sockets, cranial remolding and spinal/torso bracing.

How large an object can the Trak scan?

In Tracking Mode the Trak follows the scanner in space over large volumes up to 4 m, using retroreflective markers built into the module, and it detaches to a handheld scanner for closer work and deep-hole features to a 1:4 diameter-to-depth ratio.

What is the Medixa used for?

Anatomical capture — it ships with nine clinical presets covering face/cranial, torso/spinal, upper and lower limb and foot/socket work, with full-body region capture in under two minutes and markerless scanning for patient comfort.

Are these available in the US with support?

Yes — Rev1 is an authorized SHINING 3D / EinScan reseller in the USA, with US-based support, application guidance and financing. The Trak is RFQ; call (248) 707-2950 or request a quote for current pricing and datasheets.
