Anycubic Kobra — Fast Open-Frame Multi-Color 3D Printers

The open-frame Kobra line is Anycubic’s fast, affordable route into multi-color printing: every machine runs at up to 600 mm/s and ships as a Combo with the ACE Pro filament system for 4-color printing out of the box (and more with a second unit). The Kobra 3 V2 is the value pick, the Kobra 4 adds quiet operation and ACE 2 Pro, the Kobra X pushes up to 19 colors and carbon-fiber materials, and the Kobra 3 Max gives a huge 420 × 420 × 500 mm build. This page compares all four so you can match build size, color count and budget to your work.

How to choose

Choosing a Anycubic kobra multi-color machine

The decisions that actually matter for this class of machine — size them to your parts, not to a spec sheet.

Build size

Most of the line is ~255–260 mm cubed; the Kobra 3 Max jumps to 420 × 420 × 500 mm (~88 L) for large single parts and batches. Size the machine to your largest print.

How much color

All run the ACE Pro / ACE 2 Pro multi-color system — 4 colors with one unit, 8 with two. The Kobra X goes furthest: native 7-color, up to 19 colors.

Materials

The open-frame Kobras are tuned for PLA, PETG and TPU. The Kobra X additionally runs carbon- and glass-filled grades (PLA-CF, PETG-CF) and ASA. For ABS/ASA/PC and engineering materials, step up to the enclosed Kobra S1 series.

Speed & quiet

All hit 600 mm/s. The Kobra 4 adds ≤48 dB quiet operation and vibration compensation — worth it for a shared room or classroom.

Frequently asked questions

Which open-frame Kobra should I buy?

For the biggest build, the Kobra 3 Max (420 × 420 × 500 mm). For the lowest price, the Kobra 3 V2 ($395). For quiet operation, the Kobra 4. For the most colors (up to 19) and carbon-fiber materials, the Kobra X. All four run at up to 600 mm/s with ACE Pro multi-color.

What is the ACE Pro system?

Anycubic’s multi-color filament system. One ACE Pro unit feeds four colors; add a second for eight. It also actively dries filament while printing. Every Kobra Combo includes at least one ACE Pro.

Can these print ABS or engineering materials?

The open-frame Kobras are tuned for PLA, PETG and TPU (the Kobra X adds carbon-/glass-filled grades and ASA). For ABS, ASA, PC and other engineering materials that need an enclosed, heated chamber, choose the enclosed Kobra S1 series.

How many colors can the Kobra X really print?

The Kobra X is native 7-color through its ACE 2 Pro (GEN2) engine and scales to up to 19 colors with additional units — the most of any Kobra.
