As easy as PLA, but tough enough to use.
PLA is easy but brittle; ABS is tough but fussy and smelly. PETG sits right in the middle: it prints on any FDM printer without an enclosure, yet parts come out impact-resistant, slightly flexible instead of snapping, and resistant to water, chemicals, and UV. PETG is forgiving, but a few habits give the cleanest results — a little extra Z-gap and good cooling tame stringing.
A standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle is fine; print a touch hotter than PLA for strong layers.
Good first-layer adhesion on a warm bed; a light glue or PEI sheet helps and aids release.
No enclosure or heated chamber needed — PETG prints reliably on open-frame machines.
PETG picks up moisture; dry a damp spool to eliminate stringing and surface haze.

Rev1 PETG — Common Questions
Is PETG hard to print?
No — it's nearly as easy as PLA. Print at 230–250 °C with a 70–85 °C bed, no enclosure needed. A slightly larger Z-gap and good cooling reduce stringing; otherwise it's very forgiving.
PETG vs PLA vs ABS — which should I use?
Use PETG when you need toughness, water/chemical/UV resistance, or outdoor durability but want easy printing. PLA is easiest but brittle; ABS is tough but needs an enclosure and ventilation. PETG is the practical middle.
What colors and sizes are available?

Do I need to dry it?
PETG absorbs moisture over time, which causes stringing and a hazy surface. A fresh sealed spool prints fine; if it's been open in humid air, dry it before printing.
Is the 3 kg spool better value?
Yes — the 3 kg spool lowers your cost per kilogram and means fewer spool changes on long or production runs. It's the go-to for shops and farms.

Why is my PETG stringing, and how do I fix it?
Stringing is almost always moisture or too little retraction. Dry the spool at 60–65 °C, increase retraction (2–5 mm Bowden, ~1–2 mm direct), drop the nozzle 5–10 °C, and enable a small travel/Z-hop. A little light part-cooling also helps.
How do I stop warping and get good bed adhesion?
Run a 70–85 °C bed, slow the first layer, and use a thin glue-stick layer or a clean PEI sheet. PETG bonds aggressively to PEI — the glue actually protects the sheet and helps release. A brim helps on tall or thin footprints.
How heat-resistant is PETG?
PETG starts to soften around 70–80 °C, so it handles warm indoor and outdoor use but not a hot car interior or engine-bay heat. For sustained high temperatures, step up to ABS/ASA, PC, or PA (nylon).
