One Handheld, Three Ways to Scan

The Pro HD earned its reputation as a true multifunctional handheld: HD Prime mode for fine, markerless detail; Handheld Rapid mode for fast coverage of larger surfaces; and a Fixed mode that turns the scan head into a desktop scanner over an automated turntable. With up to 0.04 mm accuracy and EXScan Pro software, it served reverse engineering, product design, education, and heritage work in a single device — the prosumer workhorse that the EinScan Rigil now succeeds.

Markerless Where It Matters, Markered When You Want It

HD Prime was the Pro HD’s headline capability: capture fine, high-definition geometry handheld without first covering the workpiece in reference dots — faster setup and cleaner surfaces on detailed parts. When a job calls for the certainty of markers or large-area tracking, Handheld Rapid mode and the Industrial Pack’s marker workflow are still there. One scanner, both philosophies.

From In-Hand to On-the-Bench in Minutes

Lift the Pro HD off the tripod and it is a mobile handheld for HD Prime and Rapid scanning; mount it back on the tripod over the automated turntable and it becomes a desktop scanner for repeatable, indexed 360° capture of small-to-medium parts. The same scan head, two working postures — the flexibility that made the Pro HD a fixture in mixed-workload shops.

EXScan Pro Ties the Modes Together

EXScan Pro drives all three modes — guiding capture, aligning data, and cleaning the mesh in one place. Multi-mode projects merge into a single model, and the software exports straight into the CAD and inspection tools your team already runs. Heritage panels, machined parts, and product prototypes all finish in the same workflow.

Detail Capture Where the Object Lives

Markerless HD Prime made the Pro HD a genuine field instrument for heritage work — carved woodwork, stone relief, and artifacts digitized in place, without laying a single marker on irreplaceable surfaces. Handheld mobility put the scanner wherever the subject was, from a temple ceiling to a museum bench.

Buyer FAQ

EinScan Pro HD — questions owners and buyers ask.

Is the EinScan Pro HD still available?
The EinScan Pro HD is a previous-generation scanner and is no longer in current production. It has been succeeded by the EinScan Rigil, the current standalone handheld Rev1 ships and supports. If you own a Pro HD, Rev1 continues to provide software, calibration, and workflow support; if you are buying new, the Rigil is the model we recommend in this class.
What is HD Prime mode, and what made the Pro HD special?
HD Prime is the Pro HD’s markerless high-definition mode — it captures fine detail handheld without first covering the part in reference markers, which meant faster setup and cleaner surfaces on detailed objects. Combined with Handheld Rapid and Fixed (turntable) modes, the Pro HD was a genuine multifunctional handheld, which is why it became a prosumer workhorse for reverse engineering, design, and heritage work.
What accuracy could the Pro HD hold?
The Pro HD published accuracy up to 0.04 mm in HD Prime mode — high-definition geometry well suited to reverse engineering, product design, dimensional reference, and detailed art reproduction. It is a professional-class handheld, not a third-party-certified metrology scanner; for VDI/VDE-grade lab certification Rev1 maps you to the FreeScan metrology line.
What were the Color Pack and Industrial Pack?
They were optional add-on packs. The Color Pack added full-color texture capture for art, heritage, and presentation models; the Industrial Pack added the automated turntable and marker workflow for repeatable Fixed-mode scanning and large-area tracking. Together they let one Pro HD cover markerless detail, color, and automated indexing — capabilities the EinScan Rigil now integrates into a single tri-mode design.
How does the Pro HD compare to the EinScan Rigil?
The Pro HD is a previous-generation white-light handheld that requires a tethered PC. The EinScan Rigil supersedes it with a hybrid blue-laser + IR optical engine, built-in computing and a 2K touchscreen, full wireless and standalone operation, and built-in 5 MP color — the modular Pro HD packs become integrated features. For any new purchase in this class, the Rigil is the better answer.
Can I trade in or upgrade my Pro HD?
Yes — Rev1 helps Pro HD owners move to a current model, typically the EinScan Rigil. We cover trade-in guidance, software migration, training, and a clean transition so your existing workflows carry forward. Call (248) 707-2950 or request a quote and we will map the cleanest step up for your parts and budget.
What software did the Pro HD use, and what does it export?
EXScan Pro drove capture, alignment, and mesh editing across all three modes. The Pro HD exports open formats — STL, OBJ, PLY, and ASC — that flow into EXModel, Geomagic Design X, PolyWorks Inspector, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, and the broader CAD ecosystem with no proprietary lock-in.
Do I need markers or scanning spray with the Pro HD?
HD Prime mode is markerless for most surfaces, so many parts scan with no markers at all. Handheld Rapid and the Industrial Pack add marker and turntable workflows when a job needs that certainty or large-area tracking. Very dark, glossy, or transparent surfaces still benefit from a light coat of scanning spray; Rev1 stocks AESUB spray and reference targets for the workflows that need them.
Is Rev1 an authorized EinScan dealer, and what support is included?
Yes — Rev1 Technologies is an Authorized EinScan Reseller and factory-trained support partner based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We support current and legacy EinScan models, including the Pro HD, with application review, software setup, calibration verification, operator orientation, and US-based phone and video support — warranty and service never route through grey-market channels.
