Photorealistic Texture, Captured With the Geometry

The H2’s 5 MP color camera records high-resolution texture and combines it with precise 3D geometry to produce photorealistic 3D models in a single pass. Rich, faithful color makes the difference for face and body capture, art restoration, virtual displays, and digital archiving where appearance matters as much as shape — no separate texture rig, no offline mapping step.

Buyer FAQ

EinScan H2 — questions buyers ask.

Is the EinScan H2 still available?
The EinScan H2 is a previous-generation model. For body and clinical capture its role has been taken up by the EinScan Medixa — a wireless, all-in-one handheld purpose-built for orthotics & prosthetics. Remaining H2 stock may still be available in some cases — contact Rev1 to check current availability, or to map your application onto the current Medixa. For new O&P and body purchases, the Medixa is the recommended model.
What is the EinScan H2 best at?
The H2 is a hybrid LED & infrared handheld optimized for face and body 3D scanning in full color. The invisible infrared VCSEL source is comfortable for human subjects and captures skin, dark surfaces, and subjects in bright rooms, while white LED mode delivers fast, high-quality data on objects. With a 5 MP color camera and an ultra-wide field of view up to 780 × 900 mm, it suits orthotics and prosthetics, art restoration, cultural-heritage archiving, and full-color reverse engineering.
What does the EinScan H2 replacement — the Medixa — add for O&P?
The current EinScan Medixa is purpose-built for orthotics & prosthetics. Where the H2 was a tethered handheld that ran from a PC, the Medixa is wireless and all-in-one — on-board processing and a built-in screen let a clinician scan a residual limb or body region directly, in full color, without a laptop in the loop. It is tuned for fast, comfortable patient and body scanning and for casting and positive-mould capture, making it the natural step up from the H2 for any O&P or body workflow.
What accuracy does the EinScan H2 hold?
The H2 publishes accuracy up to 0.05 mm in LED mode, with a point distance of 0.2–3 mm. It is a professional-tier handheld, not an accredited-lab metrology instrument — third-party VDI/VDE 2634 certification lives on the FreeScan metrology line for QA-audit and regulated work. For face and body capture, O&P, reverse engineering, and heritage digitization, the H2’s accuracy class is well matched.
Does the EinScan H2 need markers or scanning spray?
For most subjects, no. The marker-free workflow uses rich geometric features for tracking, and the infrared source captures people and dark surfaces without the bright projected pattern that white-light scanners rely on. Global-marker alignment is available when a large, feature-poor area calls for it, and very dark or mirror-finish objects can still benefit from AESUB spray. Rev1 stocks markers and spray for the workflows that need them.
Can the EinScan H2 scan the human body comfortably?
Yes — comfort is a core design goal. The infrared VCSEL light is invisible, so there is no bright pattern in a subject’s eyes, and the ultra-wide field of view captures a full torso or limb quickly enough to stay ahead of natural movement. That makes it well suited to orthotics and prosthetics, cranial remodeling, soft-goods and wearable design, and full-color body capture for virtual displays.
What software does the EinScan H2 use?
The H2 includes EXScan H for capture, alignment, and mesh editing — texturing, simplification, smoothing, hole filling, a facial-fill tool, cutting plane, and mirror. For clinical users it pairs with EXScan O&P and BlueStar texture mapping. Exports — STL, OBJ, PLY, ASC — flow into EXModel, Geomagic Design X, and PolyWorks Inspector with no proprietary lock-in.
What output formats and downstream tools does the H2 support?
The H2 exports open mesh formats — STL, OBJ, PLY, and ASC — with full-color texture, so the data drops straight into reverse-engineering and inspection pipelines. Geometry flows into Geomagic Design X for parametric reconstruction, EXModel for surfacing, and PolyWorks Inspector for dimensional comparison, while EXScan O&P and BlueStar mapping handle the clinical orthotics-and-prosthetics path. There is no proprietary lock-in, so the scanner fits the CAD stack you already run.
Is Rev1 an authorized EinScan dealer, and what support is included?
Yes — Rev1 Technologies is an Authorized EinScan Reseller and factory-trained support partner based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Whether you are sourcing remaining H2 stock or moving to the current EinScan Medixa, support includes application review, software setup, calibration verification, operator orientation, and US-based phone and video support with authorized service routing.
