Shining 3D FreeScan Trak Pro2
0.023 mm · 3,070,000 pts/s · Marker-Free Dynamic Tracking + FreeProbe
The FreeScan Trak Pro2 is SHINING 3D's highest-accuracy wired tracking 3D measuring system. The FreeTrak bar monitors the TE25 scanner via built-in targets — no markers on the part. Three laser modes (50/7/1 lines), 2×5MP cameras, optional FreeProbe CMM probe, VPG photogrammetry. VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 and ISO 10360 certified. Full specifications →
The Trak Pro2 is a metrology-grade tracking system — quote-driven, not self-serve. Rev1 confirms application fit (automotive, aerospace, heavy industry), tracking volume, FreeProbe configuration, and operator training before commitment. Authorized SHINING 3D Metrology reseller.
FreeTrak + TE25 + Optional FreeProbe. One Complete Metrology Workflow.
Dynamic Tracking · Marker-Free · Three Laser Modes · FreeProbe Integration
Traditional handheld scanning requires reflective targets applied to the workpiece — on a large or complex part this takes 20–40 minutes of setup time. The Trak Pro2 eliminates this entirely. The FreeTrak tracking bar uses dual cameras to continuously monitor the TE25's built-in targets and compute its exact position in real time. No markers on the part, no surface preparation, no adhesive residue. Move the TE25 freely around the workpiece in any orientation. For large-volume objects, the FreeTrak can be repositioned to extend the tracking range without re-measuring reference artifacts — a significant advantage over traditional marker-based systems for multi-station large-part inspection.
The FreeScan Trak Pro2 achieves 0.023 mm accuracy, validated through rigorous acceptance testing in SHINING 3D's ISO/IEC 17025-accredited Accuracy Lab per VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 and ISO 10360 standards under controlled conditions (20±0.5°C, 40–60% RH). The calibration certificate ships with every system, traceable to international measurement standards. With VPG binocular photogrammetry, volumetric accuracy across large assemblies is 0.044+0.012 mm/m — appropriate for aerospace assemblies, automotive body structures, and large precision castings requiring globally accurate dimensional reporting.
The FreeProbe is an optical-based portable CMM that operates within the full FreeTrak tracking volume. For blind holes, undercuts, deep recesses, and obstructed datums that the TE25 scanner physically cannot image — the FreeProbe captures precise geometric point data using a ruby tip. Probing and scanning data merge seamlessly in FreeTrak software into a single unified inspection report. No separate CMM setup, no part repositioning, no coordinate system re-registration. The FreeProbe is optional — contact Rev1 to add it to your Trak Pro2 configuration.
FreeTrak VPG integrates SHINING 3D's patented binocular video photogrammetry directly into the dynamic tracking workflow. Place marker balls and a magnetic scale bar — the system automatically optimizes the global coordinate frame and maintains it throughout the scan session. For a 4-meter aircraft panel: volumetric error ≈ 0.044 + (0.012 × 4) = 0.092 mm. For automotive body-in-white at 2 m: ≈ 0.044 + (0.012 × 2) = 0.068 mm. Global accuracy maintained without coded target arrays, without separate photogrammetry passes, and without interrupting the dynamic tracking workflow.

Where the FreeScan Trak Pro2 Gets Deployed
Bugatti-Rimac uses the Trak Pro2 for inspection of carbon fiber monocoques — components where surface marker adhesion risks finish damage and traditional scanning setup time is unacceptable in a hypercar production environment. Marker-free dynamic referencing solves both. For body-in-white and large aerospace assemblies, 50-line mode covers the full structure rapidly; 7-line fine mode resolves critical fastener features and surface details. VPG maintains global accuracy across the full assembly. Aerospace first-article inspection with VDI/VDE 2634-documented results in a single session without repositioning markers or reference frames.
For water turbine blades, petroleum drill bits, ship hull accessories, and large industrial forgings — the Trak Pro2 operates reliably outdoors without ambient light interference. No markers on the part means no surface contamination on precision components. The FreeTrak's expandable tracking volume handles large equipment footprints: track one section, reposition the FreeTrak, continue scanning, data coordinates maintained across the full volume. Rail transit track inspection, heavy casting dimensional QC, and marine hull section reverse engineering are all single-session workflows with the Trak Pro2.
