One Box, Fifty Parts

The components you always end up needing — already on the shelf.

Every maker knows the pattern: a project stalls because you’re one gearmotor, one bearing, or one connector short, and the build waits three days for a delivery. Maker’s Essential Kit A ends that. It gathers the fifty hardware and electronics parts that show up in custom robots, RC builds, animatronics, and 3D-printed mechanisms into a single organized box — motors and servos, control and power boards, bearings and magnets, springs, fasteners, wiring, and LED lighting. It’s built for experienced makers who already know what they need and just want it on hand. And because every component is also stocked individually, you can refill exactly what you used — or upload a bill of materials and reorder the whole list in one step.

Organized, not dumped — find the part in seconds.

A parts kit is only useful if you can find the part. Kit A ships in a partitioned tray with each component group bagged and labeled — fasteners, springs, bearings, motors, boards, and wiring each in their own section — so the M2 screws aren’t mixed with the dowel pins and the gearmotors aren’t tangled in the wiring. Keep the box on the bench as your live inventory: open it, take what the build needs, and reorder the bag that runs low. (See the open tray in the gallery above.)

What’s Inside

Six families of parts, fifty pieces, one box.

Kit A is curated, not random — the assortment covers the mechanical, electronic, and structural parts a custom build actually needs, in the sizes makers use most.

9
Motors & Servos

A DC5V TT motor, six N20 gearmotors (reduction, threaded-shaft, and worm-gear variants from 25 to 1000 rpm), and a 9g servo with clutch protection.

6
Control & Power Boards

USB speed controller, 4-channel power distribution board, potentiometer board, self-locking button switches, and battery contact plates.

5
LED Lighting

Five 3030-LED boards (5V, SH1.0) for headlights, indicators, and illuminated builds — wire straight to the power board.

7
Springs & Bearings

Five compression springs and two torsion springs, plus plastic and steel deep-groove ball bearings, a thrust bearing, and round magnets.

30+
Fasteners & Pins

M2–M5 screws, self-tapping screws, hex nuts, flat washers, plus stainless and brass dowel pins in multiple lengths.

PH2.0
SH1.0
Wiring & Connectors

USB-A power cable, jumper leads, and pre-terminated wire pairs (50/100/200 mm) on standard PH2.0 and SH1.0 connectors — no soldering to get started.

Drive & Motion

Nine ways to make something move.

Kit A drive components: 9g servo, six N20 gearmotors, yellow TT motor, USB speed controller and driver boards
Motors, Gearmotors & Servo

From a 25 rpm crawl to a 1000 rpm spin — pick the gear ratio.

Six N20 gearmotors span the speed-versus-torque range, joined by a TT drive motor and a clutch-protected 9g servo.

The N20 set covers the choices a motion build actually faces: high-reduction gearmotors for slow, high-torque jobs (25–150 rpm), threaded-shaft variants for driving leadscrews, and worm-gear units that hold position without back-driving. The yellow TT motor (DC5V, ~59 rpm) is the classic two-wheel-robot drive, and the 9g servo adds steering or an articulated joint with built-in clutch protection so a stall doesn’t strip the gears. A USB speed controller lets you dial in motor speed on the bench before you commit a design.

N20 25–1000 rpm Worm-gear & threaded-shaft 9g clutch servo USB speed controller
Power, Wiring & Lighting

Power it, wire it, light it — without a soldering iron.

Kit A power and wiring: AA and AAA battery cases, USB-A cable, pre-terminated wire pairs and LED boards
Battery, Cable & LED

Pre-terminated leads and plug-in power get a build running fast.

AA and AAA battery cases with PH2.0 leads, a USB-A power cable, jumper wires, and five 3030 LED boards.

Powering a prototype is usually the fiddly part. Kit A includes AA and AAA battery cases already fitted with PH2.0 connectors, a USB-A cable for bench or power-bank supply, and pre-cut wire pairs in 50, 100, and 200 mm lengths on SH1.0 and PH2.0 connectors — so you plug components together instead of stripping and soldering every joint. Five 3030 LED boards (5V, SH1.0) drop in for headlights, status indicators, or accent lighting and wire straight to the 4-channel power distribution board.

Mechanical Hardware

The bearings, pins, magnets, and screws that hold it all together.

Kit A mechanical hardware: ball and thrust bearings, magnets, dowel pins, springs, screws and plastic balls
Bearings, Pins & Fasteners

Real rotating joints and proper fixings — not just zip-ties.

Deep-groove and thrust ball bearings, round magnets, stainless and brass dowel pins, springs, and an M2–M5 fastener assortment.

This is the structural half of the kit. Plastic and steel deep-groove ball bearings plus a thrust bearing give you low-friction rotating joints for wheels, turntables, and arms; stainless and brass dowel pins (2 mm, multiple lengths) set precise alignment between printed parts; and round 4×2 mm magnets make snap-fit panels and quick-release covers. The fastener assortment runs M2 through M5 — machine screws, self-tapping screws, hex nuts, and flat washers — so you can actually bolt the mechanism together instead of improvising. Colored plastic balls and steel balls round out the detent and decorative options.

Kit vs. Loose Parts

Why experienced makers buy the kit, not the line items.

1 SKU
One Order, Not Twenty

Sourcing fifty parts individually means twenty line items, multiple minimums, and a week of shipping. The kit is one order, one box, one delivery.

Save
Cheaper Than Piecing It

Bundled pricing comes in below the sum of the individual components — you pay less for the assortment than for the same parts bought one at a time.

BOM
Upload & Reorder

Every part is stocked separately, so you refill exactly what you used — or upload a bill of materials and reorder the whole list in one step.

What Makers Build With It

One kit, a lot of projects.

The assortment was chosen for versatility — the same fifty parts feed a wide range of custom builds.

Robots & rovers
TT and N20 gearmotors drive wheels and tracks; the servo steers; bearings and dowel pins build the chassis joints.
RC & motion props
Worm-gear motors hold position, the speed controller tunes drive speed, and LED boards add lights and indicators.
Animatronics
Servo plus compression and torsion springs create return-to-rest joints; magnets make quick-swap faces and panels.
3D-printed mechanisms
Press-fit bearings and dowel pins into printed parts; M2–M5 fasteners bolt the assembly together properly.
STEM & education
A ready bench stock for classrooms and clubs — motors, lights, switches, and fasteners for lesson builds and demos.
Sensors & automation
Potentiometer and switch boards plus the power-distribution board wire up simple control and automation prototypes.

FAQ

Maker’s Essential Kit A — Common Questions

What exactly is in Maker’s Essential Kit A?

Fifty components across six families: 9 motors and servos (a TT motor, six N20 gearmotors, and a 9g servo), control and power boards (USB speed controller, 4-channel power distribution, potentiometer, switches), five 3030 LED boards, ball and thrust bearings with magnets and dowel pins, an M2–M5 fastener and spring assortment, and pre-terminated wiring on PH2.0/SH1.0 connectors.

Who is this kit for?

Experienced makers who already know what they need and want the common parts on hand. It’s ideal for robotics, RC and motion builds, animatronics, and adding mechanism and electronics to 3D-printed designs. Total beginners may prefer a guided starter kit with a curriculum.

Can I buy the components individually?

Yes. Every part in the kit is also stocked separately, so you can refill exactly what you use. You can also upload a bill of materials (BOM) and reorder a full list of components in one step.

Is the kit cheaper than buying the parts one by one?

Yes — the bundle is priced below the sum of the same components purchased individually, and it saves the time and shipping of sourcing fifty line items separately.

Do I need to solder anything to get started?

No. The wiring is pre-terminated on standard PH2.0 and SH1.0 connectors, the battery cases come with connector leads, and the boards plug together — so you can prototype without a soldering iron, then solder later if your final build calls for it.

What can I build with it?

Wheeled robots and rovers, RC and motion props, animatronic joints, and powered 3D-printed mechanisms. The N20 gearmotor range (25–1000 rpm), servo, bearings, and fasteners cover most custom drive-and-structure needs.

How do the motors connect, and what voltage do they use?

The motors are typically DC 5V and connect via PH2.0/SH1.0 leads to the included power distribution board and speed controller. The AA/AAA battery cases or the USB-A cable supply power, so you can run a build off batteries or a bench/power-bank source.

Can Rev1 quote bulk quantities for a classroom or makerspace?

Yes. Rev1 quotes case quantities with standing-order scheduling for schools, labs, and shops, and can process a BOM for mixed orders of kits and individual parts — usually with a reply within one business day. Call (248) 707-2950.

How fast does it ship, and where from?

Kit A ships from Rev1 Technologies in Auburn Hills, Michigan. In-stock orders typically go out the same or next business day — one box of genuine components instead of waiting on fifty parts from multiple sellers.
