Bambu Lab P1 Series Extruder Filament Sensor Catches Run-Out at the Extruder.

Genuine Replacement Extruder Filament Sensor for the P1 Series.

Bambu Lab P1 Series Extruder Filament Sensor — flex-PCB with mechanical switch and FPC connector

The Extruder Filament Sensor is the small switch that tells a P1 series printer whether filament is present at the extruder. When a spool runs out or filament stops feeding, the sensor trips and the printer pauses instead of printing air — so a long job waits for you rather than failing. It’s a flex-PCB with a mechanical switch that mounts in the toolhead and plugs in over its FPC connector. Order it as a genuine Bambu Lab replacement. Full specifications →

What It Does

The Printer’s “Filament’s Gone” Switch.

Inside the P1 series toolhead, filament passes the extruder on its way to the hotend. This sensor sits in that path with a spring-loaded mechanical switch: while filament is present it holds the switch one way, and the moment the filament ends or stops feeding, the switch flips and the printer knows. That signal is what triggers a pause for a filament change instead of letting the print continue with nothing coming out of the nozzle.

A Genuine OEM Swap — Screws Included.

It’s a purpose-shaped flex-PCB with the switch built in, and it ships with the two small screws that hold it in place. Because it’s the genuine Bambu part, the shape, the switch position, and the FPC connector match the original exactly — you unplug the old one, seat the new one, and the toolhead reads filament again. No trimming, no adapters.

Compatibility

Built for the P1 Series.

This is the extruder filament sensor for Bambu Lab’s P1 series — the P1P and P1S. Other Bambu printers use their own filament-detection hardware, so if you run an X1, A1, or A1 mini, confirm the correct part with Rev1 before ordering. For a P1P or P1S, this is the genuine extruder sensor. Not sure whether the sensor or something else is causing false run-out pauses? We’ll help you check.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the extruder filament sensor do?

It detects whether filament is present at the P1 series extruder. When a spool runs out or filament stops feeding, its mechanical switch trips and the printer pauses for a filament change instead of continuing to print with nothing coming out of the nozzle.

Which printers does it fit?

The Bambu Lab P1 series — the P1P and P1S. Other Bambu printers (X1, A1, A1 mini) use their own filament-detection hardware, so if you don’t run a P1, contact Rev1 and we’ll confirm the right part before you order.

When would I need to replace it?

Usually when the printer throws false run-out pauses with filament still loaded, or fails to detect a genuine run-out, and the filament path itself is clear. That pattern points to the sensor switch rather than the filament or the extruder.

Does it come with mounting hardware?

Yes — it ships with the two small screws that secure it in the toolhead. You follow Bambu Lab’s official replacement guide: remove the old sensor, seat the new one with the included screws, and reconnect the FPC.

Is this a genuine Bambu Lab part?

Yes. Rev1 Technologies is an authorized Bambu Lab reseller, and this is a genuine Bambu Lab replacement — not a third-party clone. The genuine part matches the switch position, shape, and FPC connector, which is what makes the swap read filament reliably.

Can Rev1 help me diagnose it?

Yes — tell us the symptom and we’ll help you decide whether the sensor is the fault, and point you to Bambu Lab’s official replacement guide. For US customers, buying from Rev1 means fast domestic shipping and a real person to call at (248) 707-2950.
