Bambu Lab 3D Effect Plate Laser-Textured Plates That Imprint Your First Layer.
Laser-Textured Plates That Imprint Your First Layer.
The Bambu 3D Effect Plate turns a print’s bottom layer into a finished, decorative surface. Fine optical textures are laser-formed onto the plate surface; during printing the hot polymer flows into them, transferring the pattern straight onto your part — no post-processing, no paint. Choose from Galaxy, Starry, Diamond, and Carbon Fiber finishes, each giving the first layer a distinctive glittering or textured look. Print PLA or TPU, set the plate type in Bambu Studio, and the effect lands on every part. Full specifications →

The Build Plate Is the Finish.
Most build plates aim for a clean, uniform bottom surface. The 3D Effect Plate does the opposite on purpose: its surface carries a fine, laser-formed optical texture, and that texture becomes part of your print. As the first layer is laid down, molten filament flows into the micro-pattern and picks it up — so the part comes off the bed already carrying a decorative finish, with no sanding, coating, or paint.
Laser-Formed Micro-Texture, Transferred in the Print.
Bambu forms the optical pattern on the plate’s film using laser texturing — the same principle behind textured PEI, but tuned to leave a deliberate decorative effect rather than a matte finish. Because the pattern is physical geometry the polymer flows into, the result is repeatable part after part, and it reads on the finished piece as a glossy-and-matte or glittering surface depending on the finish you choose.
Galaxy, Starry, Diamond, Carbon Fiber.
Each 3D Effect Plate finish gives a different look on the printed surface. Galaxy and Starry transfer a rainbow, kaleidoscopic sparkle that shifts color with the viewing angle — striking on dark filaments. Diamond imprints a faceted pattern that mixes glossy and matte shapes across a smooth surface. Carbon Fiber lays down a subtle woven texture that reads like real carbon, especially in gray or black.
Pick the Look for the Part.
Galaxy and Starry suit display pieces, cases, and cosplay where the shimmer is the point. Diamond adds a premium faceted texture to gift and consumer items. Carbon Fiber gives functional and automotive-style parts a technical, woven appearance without a carbon-filled filament. All four print the same way — the finish is a property of the plate, so you can swap looks just by swapping plates.
Set the Plate Type. Print PLA or TPU.
Using the 3D Effect Plate is simple: install it like any Bambu build plate, and in Bambu Studio set the plate type to Smooth PEI / High-Temp Plate so temperatures and flow match. Bambu recommends PLA and TPU for the clearest effect. The decorative sheet is designed to be used with the official Bambu Lab steel plate; the Bambu Engineering Plate is also compatible as a base.
Match the Plate Size to Your Printer.
3D Effect Plates are offered for Bambu Lab’s A1, P1, and X1 series, with finishes also available for the newer P2 and H2 series. The one thing that matters is size: each printer family uses a specific plate footprint, so the plate has to match your machine. If you tell Rev1 your exact printer and the finish you want, we’ll confirm the right plate before you order — no guessing on fitment.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the 3D Effect Plate create its pattern?
The plate’s surface carries a fine optical texture formed by laser. When you print, the molten first layer flows into that micro-texture and picks it up, so the pattern is transferred directly onto the bottom face of your part. It’s the same idea as a textured PEI plate leaving a matte finish — just tuned to leave a deliberate decorative effect instead. No post-processing is required.
What finishes are available?
Four: Galaxy and Starry, which transfer a rainbow, kaleidoscopic sparkle that shifts color with the viewing angle; Diamond, which imprints a faceted mix of glossy and matte shapes; and Carbon Fiber, which lays down a subtle woven texture that reads like real carbon fiber — particularly effective with gray or black filament. Each finish is a separate plate, so you switch looks by switching plates.
Which filaments work best?
Bambu recommends PLA and TPU for the 3D Effect Plate — they pick up the texture cleanly and release well. In Bambu Studio, set the plate type to Smooth PEI / High-Temp Plate so the temperatures and flow are correct. Dark filament colors show the Galaxy and Starry sparkle most dramatically, while Carbon Fiber reads best in gray or black.
Which Bambu printers is it compatible with?
3D Effect Plates are made for Bambu Lab’s A1, P1, and X1 series, with finishes also offered for the newer P2 and H2 series. The key is size — each printer family uses a specific plate footprint, so the plate must match your machine. Tell Rev1 your exact printer and desired finish and we’ll confirm the correct plate before you order.
Do I need the Bambu steel plate too?
The decorative 3D Effect sheet is designed to be applied to the official Bambu Lab steel plate, and the Bambu Engineering Plate is also compatible as a base. If you’re unsure whether you need a full plate or just the spare effect sheet for a steel plate you already own, ask Rev1 — we’ll make sure you order the right combination for your setup.
Is this a genuine Bambu Lab plate?
Yes. Rev1 Technologies is an authorized Bambu Lab reseller, and this is a genuine Bambu Lab accessory — not a third-party clone. Genuine plates matter for both the quality of the transferred finish and correct fitment and temperature behavior on your printer.
