The 9085 you know — before it becomes filament.
Most shops meet ULTEM™ 9085 on a spool. These pellets are the step before that: the same PEI 9085 resin 3DXTech extrudes into its ThermaX filament, packaged for shops that run the extrusion themselves. If you operate a filament extruder set up for high-temperature polymers — a Filabot, a Filastruder, or a production line — you can draw your own 9085 filament, tune diameter and throughput to your process, and buy the polymer at resin cost instead of finished-spool cost. The same pellets feed granulate-fed extrusion systems directly. What you’re working with is the aerospace-pedigree grade: inherently flame-retardant PEI with the flame/smoke/toxicity behaviour that made 9085 the standard for aircraft interior applications.
This is a high-temperature material — your extruder has to be built for it.
9085 processes at temperatures ordinary desktop extruders never reach.
Extruding PEI 9085 takes 330–350 °C at the die and disciplined drying beforehand — 150 °C for 4–6 hours, because wet resin extrudes with visible bubbles in the strand. If your rig is set up for PLA and PETG, this is not the pellet to start with. If it’s built for high-temp engineering polymers, 9085 pellets are one of the most capable feedstocks you can load.

What are PEI 9085 pellets for?
They’re extrusion feedstock — the same ULTEM™ 9085 resin behind ThermaX filament, supplied as natural pellets. Feed a high-temp filament extruder (Filabot, Filastruder, or similar) to draw your own filament, or run them in a pellet-fed extrusion system.
Can I print these directly?
Only on granulate/pellet-fed systems designed for high-temperature polymers. For a standard filament printer, either extrude these into filament first or buy the finished ThermaX PEI 9085 spool — we stock both.
How do I dry them?
150 °C for 4–6 hours before extrusion. A dedicated dryer or a toaster oven works — 3DXTech’s own advice is to keep the family kitchen oven out of it. Wet resin shows up as bubbles in the extruded strand; if you see them, dry longer.
What extrusion temperature?

Is this real ULTEM™ 9085?

What sizes do pails come in?
10 kg and 25 kg. Pick the size in the buy-box — the 25 kg pail is the better per-kilogram value if your throughput justifies it.
Pellets or finished filament — which should I buy?

Are the properties the same as the filament?
