Rev1 PLA Silk is a decorative single-tone silk PLA that prints with a bright, reflective, almost-metallic sheen — each spool is one lustrous shade that makes finished prints look premium. It runs as easily as regular PLA: low temps, no heated chamber or enclosure, and a standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle. Rev1 PLA Silk is made for looks. The additives that give it that glossy silk sheen also make it a bit more brittle and lower-strength than standard PLA, and like all PLA it softens at low heat (~55°C). Rev1 PLA Silk is just as forgiving to print as standard PLA. If you have a working PLA profile, use it as-is — low temps, low warp, no enclosure, and no abrasive hardware; a standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle is all you need. Any generic PLA preset in your slicer is a reliable starting point for a clean, glossy silk finish.

For the best sheen, print smooth, flat models so the light catches the silk gloss, and keep cooling high for sharp overhangs. Slightly slower speeds and 2–3 perimeters give the most even shine on decorative parts. Silk PLA prints happily at a wide range of speeds.

Because PLA Silk prints at low temperatures with no warp on a standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle, it is fully compatible with any desktop FDM printer that accepts 1.75 mm filament — no enclosure, no all-metal hot end, no abrasive-rated or specialty hardware needed.

Like all PLA, silk PLA is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from the air, leading to stringing, bubbling, and reduced surface quality. Rev1 PLA Silk ships vacuum-sealed with a desiccant pack. After opening, reseal with desiccant or store in an airtight container. One caveat unique to silk: don’t over-dry it — excessive heat can dull the glossy sheen, so only dry it if it’s actually taken on moisture.
