6 dual-tone silk shades. In-stock colors ship fast from our US warehouse.
Rev1 PLA Dual Silk is precision-wound, consistently-spooled filament with a glossy silk sheen and a striking dual-tone color-shift — and it prints as easily as regular PLA, with no enclosure and a standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle. Rev1 Technologies stocks and ships it from Auburn Hills, Michigan. Made-to-order colors are available on a 1–3 week lead time at no premium.

Glossy silk sheen with a dual-tone color-shift.
Rev1 PLA Dual Silk gives you the shiny, satin look of silk PLA with a striking twist — two colors that blend and transition along the surface as the print flows, for eye-catching, premium-looking results. It prints as easily as regular PLA: low-warp on any FDM printer with no heated chamber or enclosure, no odor to speak of, and a standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle. It’s made for showing off — the shine and shimmer land best on larger, flat-surfaced display pieces.
Why makers reach for Dual Silk
Dual Silk turns everyday prints into showpieces. The silk finish catches the light while the two-tone color shifts across the model — and because it prints just like standard PLA, you get that premium look without a hardened nozzle, an enclosure, or fussy settings. It’s a decorative filament first, so it’s at its best on vases, ornaments, and display models rather than structural parts.
- Glossy silk/satin sheen — shinier than matte PLA
- Dual-tone color-shift — two colors blend across the surface
- As easy to print as regular PLA — no enclosure, standard brass nozzle
- Made for decorative and display prints, not structural loads
A decorative filament — know the trade-offs.
Rev1 PLA Dual Silk is built for looks, not loads. Like most silk PLAs, the additives that create the glossy sheen and dual-tone shimmer make it a bit more brittle and lower in strength than standard PLA, and it softens at low temperatures (~55°C). That’s fine for display pieces, vases, and showpieces — but for functional, outdoor, or high-heat parts, choose standard PLA or PETG, and for real strength reach for PLA-CF or PA-CF from the Rev1 catalog.
Key property summary
- Tensile strength: ~40–50 MPa (typical silk-PLA range — below standard PLA)
- Flexural modulus: ~3 GPa — stiff but decorative, not for load-bearing parts
- Elongation at break: ~2–4% — a bit more brittle than standard PLA
- Glass transition: ~55°C — low heat resistance; softens in hot cars or near motors
- Density: ~1.24 g/cm³ — lighter than PETG or ABS
Values are representative of typical silk-PLA grades (assumed reference figures). Contact Rev1 for OEM-specific TDS.
6 dual-tone silk shades that shift as they print.
Rev1 PLA Dual Silk comes in 6 dual-tone color pairs — each one a glossy silk blend of two shades that transition across the surface of the print for an eye-catching, premium look. In-stock pairs ship fast same-day from our Michigan warehouse. Made-to-order colors are produced on a 1–3 week lead time at no premium over the in-stock price. Reserve your color today and receive a tracking number when it ships.
The 6 dual-tone pairs
- Blue / Green — cool ocean-to-emerald color-shift
- Pink / Gold — soft rose warming into gold shimmer
- Purple / Gold — rich violet melting into gold
- Red / Blue — bold crimson-to-sapphire transition
- Red / Gold — deep red with a warm gold glow
- Yellow / Green — sunny yellow drifting into lime
Color-pair names are our best-guess labels and may be refined. Every shade prints at the same temperature and with the same settings. Select your color in the configurator above to see real-time availability and add to cart or place a made-to-order request.
Prints just like PLA — standard settings, standard nozzle.
Rev1 PLA Dual Silk is as forgiving as regular PLA. If you have a working PLA profile, use it as-is — low warp, no enclosure, and a standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle (it’s not abrasive, so no hardened nozzle is needed). Any generic PLA preset in your slicer is a reliable starting point. For the strongest silk shine and cleanest color-shift, print a model with large, flat surfaces and don’t over-dry the filament — too much heat dulls the gloss.
Recommended print settings
For the best silk sheen, use 3–4 perimeters and 10–20% infill on decorative pieces, and keep cooling high for sharp overhangs and bridges. Dual Silk prints happily at a wide range of speeds, just like standard PLA.
Open-format: works on any 1.75 mm FDM printer.
Because Dual Silk prints at low temperatures with no warp — and uses a standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle, not an abrasive one — it is fully compatible with any desktop FDM printer that accepts 1.75 mm filament. No enclosure, no all-metal hot end, no hardened nozzle, no specialty hardware needed.

Where Dual Silk is the right call.
Dual Silk shines wherever a print needs to look premium — decorative showpieces, display models, miniatures, cosplay display builds, spiral vases, ornaments, gifts, and art. The glossy sheen and dual-tone color-shift read best on larger, flat-surfaced models. It’s a decorative filament, not an engineering one; for functional, outdoor, or high-heat parts reach for standard PLA or PETG, and for strength choose PLA-CF or PA-CF.
Common use cases
- Decorative vases, bowls, and planters
- Display showpieces and desk decor
- Ornaments, gifts, and keepsakes
- Cosplay display pieces and props
- Figurines and display miniatures
- Decorative architectural and scale models
- Art pieces and eye-catching signage
Keep it sealed — and don’t over-dry it.
Like all PLA, Dual Silk is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from the air, leading to stringing and reduced surface quality. Rev1 PLA Dual Silk ships vacuum-sealed with a desiccant pack. After opening, reseal with desiccant or store in an airtight container. One silk-specific note: don’t over-dry it — too much heat can dull the very gloss you bought it for, so only dry it if it’s actually wet, and keep temps and times on the low end.
Storage & drying guide
- Storage: Sealed bag or airtight container with desiccant
- Ideal humidity: below 20% RH
- Shelf life (sealed): 12–24 months
- Drying (only if wet): 45–50°C for 4–6 hours — avoid over-drying, which dulls the silk gloss
- Signs of moisture: popping/crackling sounds during print, rough surface, blobs

Dual Silk vs. Standard PLA vs. PETG
Rev1 PLA Dual Silk wins on looks — glossy silk sheen and a dual-tone color-shift no matte or standard filament can match — while printing just as easily as regular PLA. It’s a decorative material, though, not a structural one: standard PLA is a bit stronger and less brittle, and for functional, outdoor, or high-heat parts PETG is tougher and more heat-resistant.

Common questions about Rev1 PLA Dual Silk
Is Dual Silk hard to print?
No — it prints just as easily as regular PLA and is fine for beginners. It runs low-warp on any FDM printer with no heated chamber or enclosure, and it uses a standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle (it’s not abrasive, so no hardened nozzle needed). Start with the generic PLA profile in your slicer: nozzle 210–230°C, bed 50–60°C, cooling fan on.
Why are some colors made to order?
Rev1 stocks the highest-volume dual-tone shades in Michigan for same-day shipping. The rest of the 6-color range is produced in batches by the manufacturer — we place orders on your behalf with a 1–3 week fulfillment time. You pay no premium over the in-stock price.
How strong and heat-resistant is Dual Silk?
It’s a decorative filament, not a structural one. Like most silk PLAs it’s slightly more brittle and a bit lower in strength than standard PLA, and it softens around 55°C — so it’s not for hot cars, near motors, or outdoor use. For functional or high-heat parts choose standard PLA or PETG; for real strength, choose PLA-CF or PA-CF.
How do I get the best silk shine and color-shift?
The glossy sheen and dual-tone shift show best on models with large, flat surfaces — vases, showpieces, and display pieces. Keep 3–4 perimeters for a solid sheen, and don’t over-dry the filament: too much heat dulls the gloss, so only dry it if it’s actually wet and keep temps low.
Can I get volume pricing for case quantities?
Yes. Call (248) 707-2950 or use the quote form — Rev1 quotes case (10–12 spools) and pallet quantities with standing-order scheduling for print farms and production environments.
What if I need a color not listed?
Additional dual-tone pairs and specialty silk finishes may be available by special order. Contact Rev1 with the color pairing you want and we’ll check availability and MOQ.
