Why PLA Silk+

A premium, shimmering finish — straight off the plate.

Most filaments come off the printer looking like a print. PLA Silk+ comes off looking finished. Its silk-gloss formula gives every model a smooth, lustrous, almost-metallic sheen that turns ordinary vases, figures and gifts into display pieces — no paint, no clear coat, no post-work. Bambu’s “+” upgrade fixes the weak spot of early silk filaments: it improves layer adhesion and toughness so parts are less brittle and hold detail better, while keeping the high-gloss look. It prints as easily as any PLA, comes in 12+ vivid jewel and metallic colors, and ships RFID-tagged so any Bambu AMS sets it up automatically. Here is what makes it special.

Gloss
High-Gloss Silk Finish

The Silk Finish

Looks painted — but it’s the filament.

A silver metallic-silk DeLorean model printed in Bambu Lab PLA Silk+, with a glossy reflective finish
Shimmering, Metallic Sheen

A display finish with no post-work.

PLA Silk+ prints with a high-gloss, almost-metallic shimmer that reads as a finished, painted surface — the silk additive reflects light along the layer lines so models look polished straight off the plate.

The whole point of a silk filament is the look, and PLA Silk+ delivers it. Where matte PLA shows its layers as a texture, the silk-gloss surface turns those same layers into a flowing, lustrous sheen — the effect that makes a printed car, statue or vase look like an injection-molded, painted product rather than a 3D print. That means no priming, no spray paint and no clear coat for a premium result, which saves hours on display models, gifts and props. The shimmer is strongest on curved and angled surfaces, so organic and vehicle models really pop. And because the “+” formula improves layer bonding, you get that finish without the fragility that made early silk filaments chip and crack. Rev1 can share a gloss-optimized profile — a touch slower with the right temperature — so your first print has the maximum shine.

Color Range

12+ jewel and metallic shades.

Bambu Lab PLA Silk+ color range shown as identical glossy sample prints across twelve silk colors
Gold to Graphite

A palette built to shimmer.

PLA Silk+ comes in 12+ colors chosen to show off the silk sheen — lustrous gold and silver, deep blues and greens, vivid reds and purples, soft champagnes and roses, and a graphite that reads almost like metal.

Color is what sells a silk print, and these shades are tuned for it: each one carries the metallic-silk shimmer so a single-color print looks intentional and high-end. Use gold and silver for trophies, awards and decorative hardware; jewel blues, greens and purples for figurines, ornaments and cosplay; champagnes and roses for gifts and homeware. Because every spool is RFID-tagged and AMS-compatible, you can also combine silk colors automatically in one print for multi-color models with a premium finish throughout. Tone is matched batch to batch, so a set or a series stays consistent. Rev1 stocks the popular silk colors and can source the rest, and we’ll help you match a shade to a project.

Easy Printing

Premium look, everyday PLA workflow.

PLA Silk+ keeps the easy, forgiving printing that makes PLA the default material — it just looks far better. It runs at a 210–240°C nozzle with a low bed temperature, low-odor and with no enclosure required, so you get a display-grade finish without moving to a fussy engineering filament. For the glossiest result, a slightly slower speed and the right temperature let the silk sheen develop fully — Rev1 can supply a tuned profile so you nail it on the first print.

Low Bed, No Enclosure

Prints at 210–240°C with a 35–45°C bed and no enclosure — as approachable as standard PLA on any FDM machine.

Tuned for Gloss

A touch slower with the right temperature brings out the maximum sheen — we provide a starting profile so you skip the calibration.

Stronger Than Before

The “+” upgrade improves layer adhesion over the original Silk, so glossy parts are less brittle and survive handling and display.

RFID & AMS

Load it. The printer knows the rest.

Bambu Lab AMS loaded with four colored RFID silk filament spools, auto-detecting color and settings
Embedded RFID

Multi-color silk, fully automatic.

Every PLA Silk+ spool carries an RFID tag with its color and print parameters baked in. Drop it into any Bambu AMS — AMS, AMS 2 Pro, AMS Lite or AMS HT — and the printer reads it and sets up automatically.

Silk filaments shine brightest in multi-color models, and the AMS makes that effortless. Load PLA Silk+ and a Bambu AMS recognizes the color and material instantly, applying the right temperature and flow with no manual profile picking. Chain colors and the AMS switches between them mid-print, so a single job produces a glossy, multi-color trophy, figurine or ornament with a premium finish throughout. The AMS keeps spools sealed and fed, which also helps a moisture-sensitive silk filament print consistently. Rev1 supplies genuine, RFID-tagged Bambu Lab spools so recognition just works — no re-spooled or grey-market stock with dead tags.

Spool & Handling

1 kg, RFID-tagged, easy to keep.

PLA Silk+ ships as a 1 kg, 1.75 mm RFID spool (about 330 m). Silk filaments are a little more moisture-sensitive than basic PLA, so keep it sealed with desiccant and dry it before a critical print for the cleanest, glossiest surface. It runs on essentially any FDM machine, no enclosure required.

1 kg RFID Spool

A standard 1 kg, 1.75 mm spool (~330 m) with an embedded RFID tag for automatic Bambu AMS recognition.

Keep It Dry

Store sealed with desiccant; dry at 55°C for 8 hours if a spool has been open — dry silk prints with a cleaner, brighter sheen.

Prints Anywhere

A standard 1.75 mm filament at 210–240°C with a low bed — no enclosure needed, Bambu or not.

Applications

Anywhere a print should look finished.

PLA Silk+ is the choice when appearance matters — decorative, display and gift pieces that benefit from a glossy, premium look without painting. It is not an engineering material, but for anything that sits on a shelf, a desk or a costume, the silk finish does the work.

Display Models & Figurines

Statues, busts, vehicle models and collectibles with a polished, molded look straight off the plate — no paint required.

Vases & Homeware

Spiral vases, planters and decor where the silk sheen flows across the surface for a high-end, handcrafted feel.

Gifts & Awards

Trophies, ornaments, keepsakes and personalized gifts in gold, silver and jewel tones that look premium and feel special.

Cosplay & Props

Armor accents, jewelry, weapon details and metallic-look props that read as polished metal without a paint booth.

Multi-Color Decor

AMS multi-color models with a glossy finish throughout — logos, signs and decorative parts in matched silk colors.

Jewelry-Look Parts

Pendants, charms and accessories with a metallic shimmer — a fast, low-cost way to prototype or produce decorative pieces.

PLA Silk+ figures are from Bambu Lab published data; generic-silk values are typical category ranges that vary widely by brand. PLA Silk+’s edge is a consistent high-gloss finish with the toughness upgrade and RFID/AMS convenience that generic silk spools rarely match. Choose PLA Basic for everyday and functional prints; choose PLA Silk+ when the finish is the point. It is a decorative material — for heat or outdoor durability, step up to PETG or ABS/ASA.

FAQ

PLA Silk+ questions.

What is PLA Silk+ best for?

Anything where appearance matters — display models, figurines, vehicle and statue prints, vases and homeware, gifts, trophies, cosplay accents and jewelry-look parts. Its high-gloss silk finish makes prints look polished and molded straight off the plate, with no paint or post-work. It is a decorative material, not an engineering one.

What’s the difference between PLA Silk+ and the original PLA Silk?

The “+” is an upgrade to layer adhesion and toughness. Early silk filaments looked great but were brittle and could chip or crack; PLA Silk+ keeps the high-gloss sheen while bonding layers better, so parts are stronger and hold fine detail. It is the current, improved version of Bambu’s silk PLA.

Do I need to paint it to get the shiny look?

No — the gloss is in the filament. PLA Silk+ prints with a metallic-silk sheen directly, so models come off the plate looking finished. The shimmer is strongest on curved and angled surfaces. For the brightest result, print a touch slower at the right temperature; Rev1 can supply a gloss-tuned profile.

What colors does it come in?

12+ jewel and metallic silk colors — gold, silver, blues, greens, reds, purples, champagnes, roses and a graphite that reads almost like metal — each tuned to show the silk shimmer. Rev1 stocks the popular colors and can source the rest.

Does it work with the AMS?

Yes — every spool has an embedded RFID tag and is compatible with all Bambu AMS systems. Load a spool and the printer reads the color and material and applies the right settings, and the AMS switches silk colors mid-print for glossy multi-color models.

Is it as easy to print as regular PLA?

Yes. It prints at a 210–240°C nozzle with a low 35–45°C bed, low-odor and with no enclosure required — the same easy workflow as standard PLA. The only tip is to slow down slightly for the glossiest finish, which Rev1’s tuned profile handles for you.

Can I use it on a non-Bambu printer?

Yes. PLA Silk+ is a standard 1.75 mm filament that prints on any FDM machine at 210–240°C with a low bed, no enclosure required. The RFID auto-detection is a Bambu AMS convenience — on other printers you set the temperatures manually. Rev1 can provide a tested gloss profile for your printer and slicer.

How should I store and dry it?

Keep it sealed with desiccant below 20% relative humidity. Silk filaments are a bit more moisture-sensitive than basic PLA, so if a spool has been open or the sheen looks dull, dry it at 55°C for 8 hours before printing for the cleanest, brightest finish.

How does Rev1 support the purchase?

Rev1 ships genuine, RFID-tagged Bambu Lab filament from US stock, helps you choose colors and dial in the gloss, and supports your AMS and print setup. Multi-spool and volume pricing and Klarna are available for larger orders.
