Genuine Bambu Lab PLA, with the RFID the AMS reads.
Authentic, lot-fresh Bambu Lab PLA Basic with embedded RFID — load it and the AMS sets temperature and profile automatically. Rev1 Technologies is your authorized Bambu Lab reseller and US support partner, Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The reliable spool you reach for — just stronger and faster.
PLA is the easiest material to print, and Bambu PLA Basic keeps that ease while fixing what makes cheap PLA frustrating: it lays down with stronger layer adhesion and better impact resistance than standard PLA, so parts come off the plate looking clean and holding together. Embedded RFID means the AMS recognizes the spool and dials in temperature and settings for you, and a recyclable cardboard spool keeps the waste down. It’s the everyday workhorse for prototypes, models, toys, and functional parts.
Tight ±0.03 mm tolerance for jam-free, repeatable prints.
Round, consistent filament feeds smoothly and lays even layers, print after print.
A 1.75 mm diameter held to ±0.03 mm keeps extrusion consistent, so you get even walls, clean top surfaces, and fewer failed prints. PLA Basic prints at a low 190–230 °C with only a 35–45 °C bed, so it works on any FDM printer with minimal fuss and no enclosure required.
Print up to 258 mm/s without trashing quality.
Formulated to flow fast and set clean.
On a high-flow hotend, PLA Basic keeps up at speeds that used to mean stringing and weak layers.
Bambu PLA Basic is tuned for the high-speed CoreXY printers it ships alongside — up to 258 mm/s on a Bambu machine — so a print that took hours finishes in a fraction of the time, with layers that still bond and surfaces that stay smooth. On any printer, it runs happily at everyday speeds too.
Load it, scan it, print it — in any of 30 shades.
Every spool carries an embedded RFID tag, so a Bambu AMS recognizes the material, color, and recommended settings the moment you load it — no manual profile picking, no guesswork on temperature.
The AMS reads material, color and print settings off the spool’s RFID tag and configures itself automatically.
A 30-shade palette — basics, brights, and neutrals — so you can match a brand, a model, or a mood.
A recyclable cardboard spool (and refill option) cuts plastic waste without changing how it feeds.
Compatible with all FDM printers, the Bambu AMS, and every build plate and nozzle — no special hardware.
Bambu PLA Basic vs. generic PLA.
Approximate street prices for orientation. PLA Basic costs a little more than bargain PLA but adds RFID/AMS automation, tighter tolerance, and high-speed tuning; engineering PLA+ costs more and targets functional strength.
| Bambu PLA Basic | Generic / bargain PLA | Engineering PLA+ / PLA-CF | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approx. price (1 kg) | ~$20 | ~$15 | ~$30+ |
| Diameter tolerance | ±0.03 mm | ±0.05 mm typical | ±0.02–0.03 mm |
| RFID / AMS auto-setup | Yes | No | Sometimes |
| High-speed tuned | Up to 258 mm/s | Varies, often stringy fast | Yes |
| Color range | 30 colors | Varies by vendor | Limited |

FAQ
Bambu PLA Basic — Common Questions
Does PLA Basic work on non-Bambu printers?
Yes. It’s standard 1.75 mm PLA and prints on any FDM printer at 190–230 °C with a 35–45 °C bed. The RFID auto-setup is a bonus on Bambu AMS systems; other printers just print it like normal PLA.
What does the RFID tag do?
A Bambu AMS reads the embedded RFID to identify the material, color, and recommended print settings automatically — so you don’t pick a profile or set temperatures manually.
How fast can it really print?
Up to 258 mm/s on a high-flow Bambu printer while keeping layer bonding and surface quality. On other printers it runs reliably at their normal PLA speeds.
Spool or refill — what’s the difference?
The spool version ships on a recyclable cardboard reel; the refill is the same 1 kg of filament without the reel, for reuse on a spool you already own — cheaper and less waste.
Do I need to dry it?
PLA isn’t very hygroscopic, so fresh sealed spools print fine. If it’s been open in humid air, dry at 55 °C for about 8 hours for the best surface finish.
How many colors are there, and can Rev1 get a specific one?
PLA Basic comes in 30 colors. Tell us the shade and quantity and we’ll confirm stock — and quote case pricing for bulk or classroom orders. Call (248) 707-2950.
