WHY FIBREX PEEK+GF20
300°C HDT. Electrically Insulating. Highest Thermal Stability in the Catalog.
FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 is 3DXTech’s glass fiber reinforced PEEK — 20% high-modulus glass fiber delivers the highest heat deflection temperature in the 3DXTech filament catalog (300°C at 0.45 MPa) while preserving PEEK’s excellent electrical insulation properties. Unlike CF-filled grades which reduce resistivity, GF20 maintains >10¹³ Ω/sq surface resistance. Natural color improves optical inspectability. For electrical insulation, precision tooling, and extreme-heat structural applications.
Highest HDT in the Catalog (300°C)
300°C heat deflection temperature at 0.45 MPa — the highest in the entire 3DXTech filament catalog. Parts maintain structural integrity under load at temperatures that would deflect any other FFF material.
Electrically Insulating (Unlike CF Grades)
Surface resistance >10¹³ Ω/sq. Glass fiber reinforcement does not reduce PEEK’s electrical resistivity — CF grades do. Critical for electrical insulation, HV hardware, and ESD-sensitive manufacturing.
260°C Continuous Use
Rated for continuous use at 260°C — one of the highest continuous-use temperatures achievable in FFF. Inherently flame resistant PEEK base with no UL additive required.
Made in USA
Extruded and wound in-house at 3DXTech’s Grand Rapids, MI facility under ISO 9001:2015 certification. Full lot traceability throughout filament fabrication. Natural color for visual inspection.
PRINTING WITH FIBREX PEEK+GF20
PEEK+GF20 — Glass Fiber Reinforced for Maximum Thermal Stability
FibreX PEEK+GF20 requires a hardened steel nozzle — standard brass will wear against the glass fiber. Process requirements are similar to unfilled PEEK: industrial hardware, 400°C-capable hot end, and heated chamber. Natural color allows part inspection without surface treatment.
- Extruder Temp 375–410°C — all-metal hot end required
- Bed Temp 130–145°C — PEI or garolite build surface
- Chamber Temp 70–140°C recommended — heated enclosure strongly recommended
- Nozzle Hardened steel ≥0.4mm — MANDATORY. Glass fiber is abrasive and will wear brass nozzles.
- Drying 130°C / 4 hr minimum before every print session
- ⚠ Nozzle Warning Hardened nozzle is non-negotiable. Glass fiber reinforcement is abrasive — a standard brass nozzle will show measurable wear. Use hardened steel, ruby, or sapphire nozzle. 0.4mm minimum diameter — small nozzles are more prone to GF bridging.
THERMAL DATA
300°C HDT — Highest Thermal Performance in the Catalog
Four thermal milestones defining FibreX™ PEEK+GF20’s operating envelope — verified against 3DXTech FibreX GF20 PEEK TDS v2.
HDT at 0.45 MPa. The absolute highest heat deflection temperature in the entire 3DXTech filament catalog. Glass fiber reinforcement maximizes PEEK’s dimensional stability at extreme thermal loads, surpassing even CF-reinforced grades.
Tg of the PEEK matrix. Semi-crystalline PEEK retains significant stiffness well above Tg due to its crystalline phase and GF reinforcement — the 300°C HDT is direct evidence. GF reinforcement does not alter the PEEK Tg.
Rated continuous-use temperature — one of the highest achievable in FFF materials. Inherently flame resistant PEEK base. Suitable for sustained elevated-temperature service in aerospace and industrial environments.
Required before every session. Consistent drying at 130°C ensures print quality at 375–410°C extrusion temperatures. Pre-drying is best practice for all PEEK-family filaments.
ELECTRICAL INSULATION & CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
Electrical Insulation Plus Chemical Resistance
FibreX™ PEEK+GF20’s glass fiber reinforcement preserves PEEK’s excellent electrical insulating properties — surface resistance >10¹³ Ω/sq. Carbon fiber grades reduce resistivity dramatically, making them unsuitable for electrical isolation applications. GF20 delivers both high stiffness and high electrical insulation, a combination unavailable from CF-reinforced PEEK grades.
Consult 3DXTech FibreX GF20 PEEK TDS v2 for complete chemical compatibility and electrical property data before use in fluid-contact or high-voltage applications.

WHERE IT WORKS
Where GF-Reinforced PEEK Outperforms Every Other Option
When you need PEEK’s chemical resistance and thermal performance without sacrificing electrical insulation — FibreX PEEK+GF20 is the only answer. CF grades are unsuitable wherever resistivity matters.
Electrical Insulation
High-voltage spacers, bus bar separators, terminal blocks, and connector housings requiring combined structural stiffness and high surface resistance (>10¹³ Ω/sq). CF grades are conductive and disqualified.
Precision Tooling
Jigs, fixtures, and check gauges where natural color aids visual alignment and inspection. 300°C HDT withstands autoclave cycles and high-temp process environments without distortion.
Aerospace
Structural brackets, thermal shields, and insulating hardware requiring the highest HDT in the catalog (300°C) with inherent flame resistance and certified domestic manufacture.
Semiconductor
Wafer handling equipment, process tooling, and chamber components where ESD grounding is undesirable. GF20’s electrical insulation prevents charge transfer that CF-filled PEEK cannot.
Oil & Gas
Downhole components, valve seats, and manifolds requiring 260°C continuous use, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability under sustained high-temperature load.
Medical & Industrial
Sterilizable fixtures and end-use device components requiring elevated stiffness, dimensional precision at 260°C+, and inherent flame resistance. Natural color simplifies visual inspection.
MATERIAL CARE
Moisture Is the Enemy. A Proper Protocol Eliminates It.
PEEK+GF20 requires consistent drying before printing at 375–410°C. The PEEK matrix absorbs moisture despite glass fiber reinforcement. Follow this protocol every session to maintain print quality and part properties.
Dry Before Every Session
130°C minimum / 4 hours minimum. No exceptions — even a sealed spool that has been open for a few days benefits from a fresh drying cycle before printing.
Print From the Dryer
For best results, print directly from a heated dry-box or dryer system. Ambient humidity will re-absorb into the filament during extended print runs at production temperatures.
Store Sealed With Desiccant
Return unused filament to an airtight bag or container with fresh desiccant immediately after printing. Long-term storage in original sealed packaging is acceptable.
Recognize Wet Filament Symptoms
Popping or crackling during extrusion, rough surface texture, reduced layer adhesion, and visible bubbling in the melt are signs of moisture contamination. Re-dry and restart.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 — Buyer Questions Answered
What is FibreX™ PEEK+GF20?
FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 is 3DXTech’s 20% high-modulus chopped glass fiber reinforced PEEK filament. Available in Natural (1.75mm), it delivers 7,250 MPa tensile modulus, 300°C heat deflection temperature — the highest in the 3DXTech filament catalog — and surface resistance >10¹³ Ω/sq for electrical insulation applications. A hardened steel nozzle is mandatory — GF reinforcement is abrasive and will wear brass nozzles.
What temperatures does FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 require?
FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 requires an extruder temperature of 375–410°C and a bed temperature of 130–145°C. A heated enclosure at 70–140°C is strongly recommended. Dry at 130°C for 4 hours minimum before every print session. All-metal hot end rated to 410°C+ is required.
Why does FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 need a hardened steel nozzle?
Glass fiber is abrasive. A standard brass nozzle will show measurable wear against GF filament. Hardened steel, ruby-tipped, or sapphire nozzles all work. 0.4mm minimum diameter — smaller nozzles are more prone to GF bridging and clogging. The hardened nozzle requirement applies regardless of fiber type (CF or GF).
Why choose GF20 over CF10 reinforced PEEK?
GF20 has three key advantages over CF10: (1) Electrically insulating — GF preserves PEEK’s >10¹³ Ω/sq resistivity while CF dramatically reduces it, disqualifying CF for electrical isolation applications. (2) Higher HDT — GF20 achieves 300°C vs. CF10’s 265°C. (3) Natural color for visual inspectability. CF10 has higher stiffness (8,100 vs. 7,250 MPa) and is better for pure structural-stiffness applications. GF20 wins on thermal performance and electrical properties.
What applications use FibreX™ PEEK+GF20?
FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 is used in high-voltage electrical insulators and spacers, ESD-sensitive semiconductor tooling, precision jigs and fixtures (natural color for visual alignment), aerospace structural and thermal components requiring 300°C HDT, oil & gas downhole equipment, and medical sterilizable tooling. Any application requiring extreme thermal performance plus maintained electrical insulation.
Is FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 chemically resistant?
Yes. The PEEK matrix maintains full chemical resistance — glass fiber reinforcement does not significantly alter the chemical compatibility profile. FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 is resistant to virtually all organic solvents, fuels, hydraulic fluids, and industrial process chemicals. The natural color does not indicate any difference in chemical resistance compared to black-pigmented PEEK grades. Consult the TDS v2 for specific fluid compatibility data.
How does FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 compare to Stratasys GF PEEK?
Both use glass fiber reinforced PEEK chemistry with similar thermal performance targets. Stratasys GF PEEK is platform-locked to Fortus/F900 series machines. FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 runs on any open-material machine with a hardened nozzle and 410°C+ hot end — same material class, fraction of system cost, no platform lock-in. Open-material access also simplifies multi-supplier qualification for aerospace and defense programs.
What spool sizes are available and what is in stock?
FibreX™ PEEK+GF20 is currently available in 250g ($225) which ships from stock. 500g and 1kg sizes are temporarily sold out — contact Rev1 to inquire about lead time and restocking dates. All sizes are 1.75mm Natural. 2kg is not a standard offering for this SKU.
