Glass-Fiber Reinforced PA12 — Stiff, Dimensionally Stable, USA-Made

3DXTech FibreX Nylon 12+GF30 glass-fiber filament spool, black

A USA-made Nylon 12 (PA12) copolymer reinforced with 30% chopped glass fiber — engineered for stiff, dimensionally stable parts that shrug off moisture, chemicals, and heat. PA12 absorbs far less water than PA6, so parts stay accurate and warp less; the glass reinforcement pushes the tensile modulus to 7800 MPa without the abrasive heat demands of high-temp composites. Engineering-Grade Nylon

Stiff, stable, and easy on your machine.

FibreX Nylon 12+GF30 is a PA12 copolymer reinforced with 30% chopped glass fiber. It's the pick when you need a rigid, dimensionally stable part with excellent chemical resistance and low moisture uptake — without the exotic, 400°C hardware a carbon-fiber PEEK or PA6 grade would demand. PA12's naturally low water absorption keeps printed parts accurate and warp-resistant, and the glass reinforcement lifts the tensile modulus to 7800 MPa. 3DXTech compounds it in the USA into consistent, printable filament for functional components, jigs, fixtures, and end-use hardware.

Structural by Design

High stiffness with a dimensionally stable, low-warp print.

30% glass fiber, formulated on a low-moisture PA12 backbone.

Glass-fiber reinforcement delivers a 7800 MPa tensile modulus and 82 MPa tensile strength — stiff, strong, and not brittle. Because it's built on Nylon 12 rather than PA6, it takes on far less moisture, so brackets, housings, and fixtures print flatter, hold tolerance, and stay stable in service. Excellent chemical resistance suits automotive and industrial parts exposed to fuels, oils, and solvents.

Why Glass-Fiber Nylon 12

Rigidity, stability, and chemical resistance.

FibreX Nylon 12+GF30 is built for structural, engineering-grade parts where stiffness and dimensional stability matter most. Numbers below are from the published TDS (Rev 1.0, ISO-tested).

7800 MPa
Tensile Modulus

30% glass fiber (ISO 527) — high rigidity that lets you lightweight structural parts.

82 MPa
Tensile Strength

Strong at break (ISO 527) — stiff and strong without becoming brittle.

94 MPa
Flexural Strength

Rigid in bending (ISO 178) with a 7550 MPa flexural modulus — holds its shape under load.

150°C
Heat Deflection (HDT)

Deflection temp at 0.45 MPa (ISO 75) — stable well above typical shop and under-hood temps.

4.5%
Elongation at Break

Enough give (ISO 527) to stay tough for functional parts — not a brittle filled resin.

Low
Moisture Absorption

PA12 takes on far less water than PA6 — better dimensional stability and less warp.

Printing FibreX Nylon 12+GF30

A hardened nozzle and a heated bed — no exotic hotend.

These are 3DXTech's recommended print settings. Glass fiber is abrasive, so a hardened nozzle is a must; PA12 is far less hygroscopic than PA6, but drying still gives the best surface and strength.

265–285°C
Extruder

Prints on a wide range of machines — no 400°C all-metal hotend required.

90–110°C
Bed

A heated bed with a suitable adhesive for a reliable, warp-free first layer.

Up to 120°C
Heated Chamber

Not required, but a warm enclosure improves layer bonding on larger structural parts.

Hardened
Nozzle (0.4 mm min)

Use a hardened-steel or abrasion-resistant nozzle — glass fiber wears out brass fast.

0.25 mm+
Layer Height

Run 0.25 mm or thicker layers for the best strength and consistent flow with the filled filament.

90°C / 4h
Dry Before Printing

Even low-moisture PA12 prints best dry — dry the filament and keep it in a dry box.

Where It's Used

Built for stable, structural, end-use parts.

Real Structural Parts

From CAD to a stable, load-bearing part that ships.

Print functional brackets, housings, tooling, and end-use components.

Because it's rigid, chemically resistant, moisture-stable, and heat-tolerant, FibreX Nylon 12+GF30 is a go-to for parts that actually go into service — not just prototypes. Low water absorption and low warp mean parts stay dimensionally true, which is why glass-fiber PA12 lands in automotive, industrial, and manufacturing work.

FAQ

3DXTech FibreX Nylon 12+GF30 — Common Questions

Do I need a special high-temp printer?

No — FibreX Nylon 12+GF30 prints at just 265–285°C, so most quality FDM printers with an all-metal hotend can run it. You do need a heated bed (90–110°C) and a hardened-steel nozzle. A heated chamber up to 120°C isn't required but improves layer bonding on large parts.

Why do I need a hardened nozzle?

The glass fiber that gives this filament its rigidity is abrasive and will quickly wear out a standard brass nozzle. Use a hardened-steel or other abrasion-resistant nozzle, 0.4 mm minimum.

How is Nylon 12 different from Nylon 6?

PA12 absorbs far less moisture than PA6, so parts print flatter, warp less, and stay dimensionally stable in service. PA6 grades can be a touch stronger but are more hygroscopic and fussier to keep dry. For stable, low-warp structural parts, glass-fiber PA12 is often the easier, more forgiving choice.

Do I have to dry it?

PA12 is much less hygroscopic than PA6, but drying still gives the best surface and strength. Dry the filament at 90°C for about 4 hours before printing and keep it in a dry box, especially if it has been open to humid air.

Is it carbon fiber or glass fiber?

Glass fiber — 30% chopped glass reinforcement (GF30). It delivers high stiffness and a clean matte-black finish, and it's electrically insulative (>10¹³ Ω/sq), unlike semi-conductive carbon-fiber grades.

Will the 750 g reel fit my AMS?

Yes — the 750 g reel is sized to fit popular automated material systems like the Bambu AMS, Creality CFS, and Anycubic ACE Pro. Check section 10 for the full spool dimensions before you buy.
