WHY FIBREX Nylon 12+GF30
158°C Tg. UL 94 HB. Highest GF Loading in the FibreX Line.
FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30 is 3DXTech’s 30% glass fiber reinforced Nylon 12 filament — the highest fiber loading in the FibreX line. Nylon 12 delivers an inherently UL 94 HB flame rating without additives, a 158°C glass transition temperature, and surface resistance >10¹³ Ω/sq. The GF30 loading maximizes stiffness (7,800 MPa tensile modulus) while maintaining electrical insulation. Natural color enables visual inspectability. For aerospace, electrical insulation, and high-temperature structural applications.
Inherently UL 94 HB (No Additives)
Nylon 12 resin is inherently flame retardant — UL 94 HB rating without flame retardant additives. Critical for aerospace and transportation programs requiring self-extinguishing performance from the base material, not from additives that can leach or degrade.
Electrically Insulating (Unlike CF Grades)
Surface resistance >10¹³ Ω/sq. Glass fiber reinforcement preserves Nylon 12’s electrical insulating properties — CF grades reduce resistivity. Critical for high-voltage hardware, connector components, and ESD-sensitive tooling.
158°C Tg — High Thermal Nylon 12+GF30
Nylon 12 (amorphous) has a 158°C glass transition temperature — one of the highest Tg values in the 3DXTech filament catalog. Suitable for sustained high-temperature service above 200°C. GF30 reinforcement further extends dimensional stability at elevated temperatures.
Made in USA
Extruded and wound in-house at 3DXTech’s Grand Rapids, MI facility under ISO 9001:2015 certification. 30% glass fiber compounded with Nylon 12 resin, with full lot traceability throughout filament fabrication. Natural color for visual inspection.
PRINTING WITH FIBREX Nylon 12+GF30
Nylon 12+GF30 -- High-Temperature Amorphous Nylon 12 with Maximum Glass Fiber Loading
FibreX Nylon 12+GF30 requires a hardened steel nozzle — glass fiber is abrasive. Process requirements: industrial hardware, 300°C+ all-metal hot end, and heated enclosure. Dry at 90°C for 4 hours before every session. Natural color allows part inspection without surface treatment.
- Extruder Temp 265–285°C — all-metal hot end required
- Bed Temp 90–110°C — Nylon 12 or garolite build surface
- Chamber Temp up to 120°C recommended — heated enclosure strongly recommended
- Nozzle Hardened steel ≥0.4mm — MANDATORY. Glass fiber is abrasive and will wear brass nozzles.
- Drying 90°C / 4 hr minimum before every print session
- ⚠ Nozzle Warning Hardened nozzle is non-negotiable. 30% glass fiber is more abrasive than standard GF loadings — a standard brass nozzle will show rapid wear. Use hardened steel, ruby, or sapphire nozzle. 0.4mm minimum diameter — small nozzles are more prone to GF bridging.
THERMAL DATA
158°C Tg — High-Performance Amorphous Nylon 12 with Glass Fiber Reinforcement
Four thermal milestones defining FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30’s operating envelope — verified against 3DXTech FibreX Nylon 12 GF30 TDS v1.
Tg of the Nylon 12 matrix — one of the highest Tg values in the 3DXTech filament catalog. Amorphous Nylon 12 maintains dimensional stability from Tg. GF30 reinforcement further extends stiffness above Tg. Higher Tg than ThermaX PA12+GF30 unfilled grade.
HDT at 0.45 MPa. GF30 loading elevates the HDT significantly above unfilled Nylon 12, enabling sustained load-bearing service at temperatures approaching the Tg. Suitable for industrial process environments well above 180°C.
Nylon 12 is inherently UL 94 HB — self-extinguishing without flame retardant additives. No additive migration risk. Required rating for many aerospace, rail, and transportation interior programs.
Required before every session. Consistent drying at 90°C ensures print quality at 265–285°C extrusion temperatures. Pre-drying is best practice for all glass fiber Nylon 12 filaments.
ELECTRICAL INSULATION & CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
Electrical Insulation Plus UL 94 HB Flame Performance
FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30’s glass fiber reinforcement preserves Nylon 12’s excellent electrical insulating properties — surface resistance >10¹³ Ω/sq. Carbon fiber grades reduce resistivity dramatically. GF30 delivers both high stiffness and electrical insulation, combined with the inherent UL 94 HB flame rating of the Nylon 12 base resin. Note: Nylon 12 is not as broadly solvent-resistant as PEEK — avoid aromatic solvents and strong bases. Consult the TDS for specific compatibility.
Consult 3DXTech FibreX Nylon 12 GF30 TDS v1 for complete chemical compatibility and electrical property data. Nylon 12 is susceptible to aromatic solvents and strong bases — verify compatibility before fluid-contact applications.

WHERE IT WORKS
Where GF-Reinforced Nylon 12 Outperforms Every Other Option
When you need high Tg flame performance, and electrical insulation in one material — FibreX Nylon 12+GF30 is the answer. CF grades are unsuitable wherever resistivity matters.
Aerospace & Transportation Interiors
Structural brackets, interior fixtures, and ducting requiring UL 94 HB flame rating from the base material — not from additives. Nylon 12’s inherent flame resistance meets stringent FAA/aviation and rail interior requirements.
Electrical Insulation
High-voltage spacers, terminal blocks, and connector housings requiring combined structural stiffness (7,800 MPa tensile modulus) and high surface resistance (>10¹³ Ω/sq). CF grades are conductive and disqualified.
ESD-Sensitive Semiconductor Tooling
Wafer handling equipment, process tooling, and chamber components where ESD grounding is undesirable. GF30’s electrical insulation prevents charge transfer that CF-filled grades cannot.

Jigs, fixtures, and end-use structural parts requiring sustained service above 180°C under load. 150°C HDT with GF30 reinforcement withstands industrial process environments without dimensional drift.
Medical & Industrial Fixtures
Sterilizable fixtures and end-use device components requiring elevated stiffness, 158°C Tg, and inherent flame resistance. Natural color simplifies visual inspection and part traceability.
Defense & Industrial
Components requiring combined high stiffness, electrical insulation compliance, and domestic manufacture under ISO 9001 certification. Suitable for defense supply chains requiring traceable materials.
MATERIAL CARE
Moisture Is the Enemy. A Proper Protocol Eliminates It.
Nylon 12+GF30 requires consistent drying before printing at 265–285°C. The Nylon 12 matrix absorbs moisture despite glass fiber reinforcement. Follow this protocol every session to maintain print quality and part properties.
Dry Before Every Session
90°C minimum / 4 hours minimum. No exceptions — even a sealed spool that has been open for a few days benefits from a fresh drying cycle before printing.
Print From the Dryer
For best results, print directly from a heated dry-box or dryer system. Ambient humidity will re-absorb into the filament during extended print runs at production temperatures.
Store Sealed With Desiccant
Return unused filament to an airtight bag or container with fresh desiccant immediately after printing. Long-term storage in original sealed packaging is acceptable.
Recognize Wet Filament Symptoms
Popping or crackling during extrusion, rough surface texture, reduced layer adhesion, and visible bubbling in the melt are signs of moisture contamination. Re-dry and restart.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30 — Buyer Questions Answered
What is FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30?
FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30 is 3DXTech’s 30% high-modulus chopped glass fiber reinforced Nylon 12 filament. Available in Natural (1.75mm), it delivers 7,800 MPa tensile modulus, a 158°C glass transition temperature, inherent UL 94 HB flame rating, and surface resistance >10¹³ Ω/sq for electrical insulation applications. A hardened steel nozzle is mandatory — GF reinforcement is abrasive and will wear brass nozzles.
What temperatures does FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30 require?
FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30 requires an extruder temperature of 265–285°C and a bed temperature of 90–110°C. A heated enclosure at 70–140°C is strongly recommended. Dry at 90°C for 4 hours minimum before every print session. All-metal hot end rated to 300°C+ is required.
Why does FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30 need a hardened steel nozzle?
Glass fiber is abrasive. A standard brass nozzle will show measurable wear against GF filament — and at 30% loading, the wear rate is significant. Hardened steel, ruby-tipped, or sapphire nozzles all work. 0.4mm minimum diameter — smaller nozzles are more prone to GF bridging and clogging. The hardened nozzle requirement applies regardless of fiber type (CF or GF).
Why choose Nylon 12+GF30 over unfilled ThermaX PA12+GF30?
GF30 adds three key advantages over unfilled PA12+GF30: (1) Stiffness — 7,800 MPa vs. 3,100 MPa tensile modulus for structural rigidity under load. (2) HDT — 150°C vs. ~180°C for sustained load-bearing at higher temperatures. (3) Higher dimensional stability for tight-tolerance parts. Both retain UL 94 HB and electrical insulation. Unfilled PA12+GF30 is better where ductility and impact resistance matter. GF30 wins for stiffness, dimensional stability, and elevated HDT.
What applications use FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30?
FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30 is used in aerospace and transportation interior structural components (UL 94 HB required), high-voltage electrical insulators and spacers, ESD-sensitive semiconductor tooling, precision jigs and fixtures requiring 150°C+ HDT, medical sterilizable tooling, and defense supply chain components requiring ISO 9001 certified domestic manufacture.
Is FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30 chemically resistant?
Nylon 12+GF30 is resistant to hydrocarbons, automotive fluids, dilute acids, and alcohols. However, Nylon 12 is susceptible to aromatic solvents (e.g., methylene chloride, toluene) and concentrated bases — this is different from PEEK which has broader solvent resistance. Always consult the FibreX Nylon 12 GF30 TDS v1 and test in your specific chemical environment before production use.
How does FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30 compare to Stratasys GF Nylon 12?
Both use glass fiber reinforced Nylon 12 with similar UL 94 HB and electrical insulation properties. Stratasys GF Nylon 12 is platform-locked to Fortus/F900 series machines. FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30 runs on any open-material machine with a hardened nozzle and 300°C+ all-metal hot end — same material class, fraction of system cost, no platform lock-in. Open-material access simplifies multi-supplier qualification for aerospace and defense programs.
What spool sizes are available and what is in stock?
FibreX™ Nylon 12+GF30 is available in 750g ($98) which ships from stock. 1.75mm. Contact Rev1 for bulk or alternative sizes.
