Flexible where you need it — tough enough to take a hit.
3DXFLEX TPU (95A) is a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer 3DXTech chose for its balance of printability, flexibility, chemical resistance, and toughness. At 95A Shore hardness it sits in the sweet spot for functional parts: flexible enough to bend, stretch, and dampen vibration, yet rigid enough to hold shape and print reliably. With elongation over 500%, parts deform and spring back instead of snapping — ideal for seals, grips, bumpers, and end-use components that live in the real world.

Semi-flexible parts with a clean, consistent print surface.
95A Shore hardness, tuned for printability and toughness.
3DXFLEX prints crisp geometry and clean layers even on complex, thin-walled parts — the finned print above shows the surface quality you can expect. Because it is impact-resistant and abrasion-tough, parts survive repeated flexing, drops, and contact wear that would crack a rigid filament. It also resists many common chemicals, so gaskets and seals hold up around fuels, oils, and solvents.
Flexibility, toughness, and chemical resistance in one filament.
3DXFLEX TPU (95A) is built for functional, flexible, end-use parts. The values below are from 3DXTech's published product data; ask us for the full datasheet when qualifying a part.
Semi-flexible — bends and compresses under load, then returns to shape. Firmer and easier to print than softer 85A grades.
Stretches well past 5x its length before failing — parts deform and recover instead of snapping.
Tough, impact-resistant prints that absorb shock — ideal for bumpers, mounts, and protective parts.
Handles repeated flexing and cyclic loading without cracking — built for parts that move.
Resists many fuels, oils, greases, and solvents — suits gaskets, seals, and wear parts in industrial settings.
Lower moisture pickup than many flexibles, plus retained flexibility at low temperatures for outdoor and cold-service parts.
Prints on a standard hotend — a direct-drive extruder helps.
These are 3DXTech's recommended print settings. TPU is easiest to feed on a direct-drive extruder; experienced users can succeed with Bowden setups by slowing down and tuning retraction.
Prints on a standard hotend across the mid-200°C range — no high-temp all-metal setup required.
A lightly heated bed for reliable first-layer adhesion. TPU sticks well to common build surfaces.
No enclosure needed — 3DXFLEX prints open-air on desktop and workhorse FFF printers.
Recommended for the cleanest flexible feeding; Bowden works for experienced users with tuned retraction.
Standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle is fine — TPU is not abrasive. No special layer-height requirement.
Dry the filament before printing for the best surface and consistent extrusion, and keep it in a dry box.
Built for flexible, impact-absorbing, end-use parts.
Because it is flexible, tough, and chemically resistant, 3DXFLEX TPU (95A) is a go-to for functional parts that flex, seal, grip, or absorb shock — the parts a rigid filament simply can't do.
Black, 1.75 mm, on a 500 g reel.
3DXFLEX TPU (95A) ships in black on a 1.75 mm, 500 g reel — sized to fit popular automated material systems and standard spool holders. Need a different diameter, a larger reel, or bulk and standing-order quantities? Ask us and we'll quote it. Choose your reel in the buy-box above.
Where 95A TPU sits — flexible vs. rigid.
A quick guide to hardness and behavior so you pick the right material for the part. Shore 95A is a firm, tough flexible — more printable and dimensionally stable than a soft 85A, far more forgiving than a rigid filament.
| 3DXFLEX TPU 95A | Softer TPU (85A) | Rigid Filament (PLA / PETG) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flexibility | Semi-flexible, springy | Very flexible, rubbery | Rigid, no give |
| Toughness / impact | High — absorbs shock | High, very soft | Low to moderate, can crack |
| Printability | Easy for a flexible — prints fast, holds shape | Harder — slow, prone to jams | Easiest |
| Extruder | Direct-drive recommended | Direct-drive required | Direct-drive or Bowden |
| Chemical resistance | Good (fuels, oils, solvents) | Good | Limited |
| Best for | Seals, dampers, grips, cases, tough flexible parts | Very soft, stretchy parts | Rigid brackets, jigs, display parts |

FAQ
3DXTech 3DXFLEX TPU (95A) — Common Questions
How flexible is 95A TPU?
95A on the Shore A scale is a firm, semi-flexible rubber — it bends, compresses, and springs back, but holds its shape better than a soft 85A grade. Think tough seals, bumpers, and grips rather than a stretchy rubber band. With elongation over 500%, parts flex a long way before failing.
Do I need a special printer?
No high-temp printer is needed — 3DXFLEX prints at 225–250°C on a standard hotend with a 50°C bed and no enclosure. A direct-drive extruder is strongly recommended for clean flexible feeding; experienced users can print it on a Bowden setup by slowing down and tuning retraction.
Do I need a hardened nozzle?
No. Unlike carbon- or glass-filled filaments, TPU is not abrasive, so a standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle works fine. There are no special nozzle or layer-height concerns.
Should I dry it before printing?
Yes. Although 3DXFLEX has low moisture absorption for a flexible, drying it at 65°C for about 4 hours before printing and keeping it in a dry box gives the best surface finish and most consistent extrusion.
How is 95A different from 85A TPU?
Both are flexible TPU. 95A is firmer, tougher, more dimensionally stable, and easier to print — ideal for functional seals, dampers, and cases. 85A is softer and stretchier for parts that need to bend more. Tell us your part and we'll recommend the right hardness.
What can I make with it?
Gaskets and seals, vibration dampers and feet, grips and wearables, protective cases, flexible tubing and bellows, living hinges, and snap-fit or shock-absorbing end-use parts — anywhere you need flexibility, toughness, and chemical resistance.
Is it made in the USA?
Yes — 3DXTech manufactures 3DXFLEX TPU (95A) at its 68,000 sq ft facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan, using state-of-the-art equipment and processes.
What size and color does it come in?
It ships in black on a 1.75 mm, 500 g reel. Need a different diameter, a larger reel, or bulk quantities? Call (248) 707-2950 or request a quote and we'll source it.
Will the reel fit my AMS or dry box?
3DXTech ships 3DXFLEX on standard reels sized to fit popular automated material systems and spool holders. Check the outer diameter, width, and center bore against your system using the 3DXTech reel infographic in the spool section above before you buy.
